If we don`t appear nasty to them, they might come out of their own accord, and then we can learn from them, and allow them to learn from us too, in their own time. Not sure what it is you`re trying to say here, so I`ll try to guess.
If you mean my opinion about, or rather my experience with Windows, then I use gnu/linux, which is much more advanced than the Redmond offering. Try it - it never annoys the user but does exactly as told - of course I am no newbie, whom Windows was apparently made for.
M$ may have got off on a technicality in the CP/M case, by a 20% margin of difference in the overall code. That really proves things, right? Perhaps to computer-illiterate lawyer, judge or jury - but not to a programmer who would look inside the code to see the parts. Nothing like being prepared for whatever you expect. I always keep "French letters" in my bag, for example. Not that any of it helps if they decide to amputate your parts for cell research - or even food - while strapped to a table.

personaly i do believe in et`s from a probability perspective since i cant recall any personal encounters.
before you mentioned something about them researching us, anatomicaly, and you suggested that some "aliens" know more about us then "others", so you are saying that there would be something like different races of them or same race but ideological different, like different countries and cultures here, which would lead to the coclusion that there are good and bad intentions probably as one said before, good and bad aliens ( good and bad being by itself very subjective expressions. ).
I also believe they have influenced us since the dawn of our history, lets remember that the aztecs talk about this being the 5th "time", meaning that there has been 4 "human societies" before ours, the last one "the forth", having ended cause of the greate flood that submerged all or most of earth under water ( eg. the submerged cities under cuba or japan ) what about the heads on easter island which do not even come close to the factions of the natives, what about the olmeca tribe which is supposed to be the first "american" tribe and ancestors to the native american, mayas, aztecs and incas ? why do they look african ?..... and on and on...

The great thing about it is the panel of experts, Nasa scientists, FX experts etc. Some of the various footage they can de-bunk....but much of it they cant. Some of it is truly incredible!

Thanks, Bo, I wish I could put things in such simple terms.
I doubt either. Our planet is made of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen mainly, the four most common compounds in the universe. Add that to being a pretty small planet, there is probably not enough resources here for them to care about when they can find the raw materials anywhere. That and they will expose themselves to new diseases and put them selves at risk if they come into contact with us. Similar to when the Europeans came to America and the Natives died by diseases in droves. Too much risk for not much. I am sure if they wanted something they would send drones to collect it.
