His brother Jeb was behind the voting fraud, when elected the first time,so was easy second time around. Now you know how it works. Have they given him a nickname yet??? I remember an ex called Tricky-Dicky (Nixon).
venusenvy: I totally agree Ooby...Pretty brain-dead statement! Freed them from what? Now that hes FINALLY gone I see the middle east working to free itself. Im pretty sure if you made that statement to the average Iraqui they would dissagree. I lived in Fla. when he was elected the second time...the eerie thing was NO-ONE voted for him...Now how does that work exactly??

Why not scroll back about 3 post and read the NYTimes article.
Your expertise is appreciated though.

I do get this visual of Jeb in a 59 Ford pick up w/boxes of ballots in the back...and him driving all over the state election night saying, "ok, how many ballots does baby bro. need here". rolling on the floor laughing

Yes, and I remember thinking at the time, "everybody's complaining about the electoral vote system, yet I bet they'll do nothing to try to change it; and they won't likely be complaining when the next election comes along" They only care when it suits them, not b/c of the fairness/unfairness of something.

In fact, I had forgotten about that whole situation til your post. If people think it's so bad, why didn't they continue with trying to reform the system... it's still the same system as it was back then..............
Personally, I was glad the election turned out the way it did. No matter what you believe about Iraq(and I can tell you personally, many Iraqi's are very grateful for the intervention - I have a really wonderful painting from one of them - no, not an Iraqi living here - an Iraqi who was & always will be living in Iraq), it scares me to think of how the 9-11 situation would have been handled. Bin laden's group did not expect the U.S. to do much(they are observant, after all, and had seen a lot of spineless talk with no action in the years preceding their attack), and I wonder to this day how Gore would have handled the situation(though I never think past that point - it's terrifying - which is one of the goals of terrorism: to create terror)

raphael118: thats the worst understanding of Lincoln I've ever heard. Now that weve lost thousands of our finest soldiers and nearly bankrupted our country, whats the thanks from Iraq? No oil business for us, the huge wealth american cons expected is going elsewhere, weve been blackballed!
I don't quite understand your post. But my post should have been clearer, so here it is:

I believe Lincoln was a great man & great President.(AG does not).

But I do agree with AG on Bush.

I'll bet! After the Soviets and the Mujaheddin killed a million Afghans and Saddam averaged thirty thousand Iraqis per month with no escape possible you can bet people ran when they were free.

And bush made that freedom possible. Now, millions are returning thanks to their new found freedom.banana cheering head banger applause thumbs up

SCatlyn:

What I said (in reply to a gent who stated that Bush was the worst ever;

"Abe Lincoln. Killed over a million fellow Americans in a war which could have easily been averted. Then, because of his stubbornness to preserve a common entity which would have been preserved separately through common beliefs and politics it took over fifty years to recover and,, to this very day, it still has not recovered totally.

Yet history sees him as great.

Bush freed fifty million people. Maybe some will see him as great someday. At least the freedom worshiping people anyhow. "

You seem to have understood what I was saying Catlin. That possibly the greatest of all Presidents is less than Bush as he killed far more people, shredded the constitution, made war on his own people killing over a million of them and wasted far more money than Bush ever did and, only freed eight hundred thousand people in the process of destroying half the country.

So, on the basis of whatever scale people claim Bush was the worst, it makes Lincoln the worst and Bush a total success compared side by side.

Two similarities between the men are that both had deep conviction in what they were doing and unwavering will power. Something that would have crushed lesser men. And something very strange is that although both freed vast numbers of people, that freedom was never the actual intent of their actions.

I believe that both were great men and, just wanted to add Catlin that you seem to understand the irrelevance of the poll in that history begins the second after an event however, the view grows less jaundiced the farther away you are so history may actually judge Bush as one of the greatest as well as his actions parallel Lincolns in many ways.

gardenhackle: I'm sorta surprised that someone who so obviously plays political favorites like you do with everything democrat = good and everything republican = bad admitting that you feel there aren't any different parties, checks and balances or any choice that isn't coerced or "bought by the money" (as opposed to barter notes?). If you frequently go onto partisan rants, shrugging your shoulders and saying "I don't really care and it doesn't really matter" is a bit of a flip-flop.

But like you say.... whatever.
Yes, my understanding of "they're all" in that post would have to include both Democrats & Republicans.

(imo- there's a group that go into the partisan rants- when it suits a particular agenda, then switch "flip-flop" to 'it doesn't matter, they're all bought, no one's vote counts' when the partisan stuff no longer suits that agenda)

As to why people voted for him? Gore and Kerry. HELLLLOOOOOO!!!!!!

I know someone that has helped in Iraq, She said the people there are very grateful that the US has helped, The only drawback i can see about the situation is the way it was handled as for declaring war, Also the buying of prisoners for a reported 5000 dollars each whether they were innocent or guilty as charged, However we did free the people also rebuilt what was destroyed plus some, Hard saying what Gore would have done or even Saddam, Very hard call with so many lives at stake and trillions of dollars needed to make everything happen.
Still a matter of trying to get all the troops home, Not forgetting about all the prisoners sitting in cells yet, The cost of keeping them locked away, US did there job and We the people have paid the cost and will remain contributing until the last of the troops return home and all the prisoners stand trial or are set free. Question would be ... Would other countries do the same for the US...

I would have voted for Kerry as he looked so cool on that boat in Boston harbor but Acorn didn't register me until '08. Problem was, Palin was running around giving out free shots of vodka from a moose horn so that sort of stopped me from leaning towards Obama. (actually made me lean to much to do anything.)

Obama fought tooth and nail stating he could not only float that ship but make it work better than it ever had before.

Remember 'hope and change?'

Hardly that he was saddled with a problem. In fact, if he was under qualified he should have remained as a community organizer if he was not ready to to right the 'sinking ship' than pretend he was the person to make it work don't you think?confused

Oh, as for Bush - freed fifty million people. More than any man in history. Just an aside. banana

You do like people to be free don't you?
