My ex-husband used to order flowers to be sent to work to me, then would give a false name & address. Eventually, they contacted ME & I had to pay for them! What a LOSER! Give me flowers, only if you can AFFORD them!

haha, what a creep sorry, not laughing at you.
I never gave flowers because it was a special day. I used to pick up flowers on those days they weren't expected. I used to know a florist who would save me rose petals. I would fill the bath tub with them and throw some around the room. Of course there was also candles, a bottle of wine, cd player, and the book of the month if it was just a relaxing time for herself. She was always thankful.

I really don't care that much about flowers one way or the other. The last guy I dated brought me roses when we met, it was a sweet gesture. But I wouldn't want them on a regular basis. And I'm like Julee, I'd rather the money be spent on something more tangible. I'm just too practical that way.
Portiea: Ladies, how important is the gesture of a gift of flowers?
I love it myself. They don't have to be from the florist. Here, they are available from street kiosks as well as florists. If they are from the garden, or wild flowers, etc. Don't care, just love it.
What about you?
I know what you mean I have been to Germany quite a few times, mostly Frankfurt / Koln area and Flowers are available everywhere. I love flowers, although I have to say I enjoy them more in my garden. That does not mean I wouldn't appreciate them if someone gave me flowers! flowers.

shipoker55: Men are sometimes insensitive and get pre-occupied with worries of the day. This doesn't mean they don't care or they don't love you.
I'm not sure I know what love is, but I cared alot for Sue, who passed away in 2001.
At her funeral, I was looking at all the flowers and thought to myself. Why did I wait so long to bring her flowers? So, men, I would say don't wait till it's too late to bring flowers. Sue never saw all the lovely flowers that were given to her, But in my Bible is a flower given to me from her
My mom always said if you're going to send me flowers, don't wait until I'm dead. My sibs waited til she was dead. I never did. I sent my mom flowers for no reason and she loved them. I also didn't wait until she was dead to let her know how I felt about her.
You're right ship, don't wait until anyone that you love is gone to send flowers or let them know how you feel.
I but I dislike when they are used as a means of saying sorry for being an azzhole. I prefer to hear the word 'sorry' then have it symbolised with flowers.

Yes sweetheart well said. I would rather give my lady flowers for thinking of her than for a commercialised reason. Valentines is an expectation so I like to surprise. Sorry is better said than bribed.
