She was supposed to play Dorothy. Back then studios traded stars to others, so Shirley was traded with Marlena Dietrich for Clark Cable and someone else. Then Marlena died ,the trade was off , so Shirley lost her chance. Judy Garland was 16 or right around there. Theychose Garland, but they bound her breasts and dressed her as a chid and she became Dorothy.
During the war Shirley started movies at the age of 3. She single hadedly saved Warner Brother fromm going bankcrupt. She was soon a childhood star. If you went to the movies, they would show some scenes from the war and try to or ask you to buy War Bonds. During that time shemade34 movies In jut a few years, so that is why I do not like the wizard of OZ!! my grandaughter agrees. She hates the flying monkies.

Oz was a huge prduction, I agree. The most highly rated child movies had to be ET. The movies down the bambabi, snow white and Cinderella. The newer ones beauty andthe beast. Lord f the rings of the Lords and Captain Hook: survey taken by my 5 granaughters , but do agree on ET. I do know what you mean by the Wizard. I love them both. I love hippo and otter and armadillo and aardvark and seal and many many more animals. I wish I could have them all as pets.

JeanKimberley: Way too many animals - sorry - you were lucky to get out just by a hair. Most people with so many animals are now being treated for this need to have more than pets for the family. A village of cats or dogs is just too much. And it is so easy to happy - don't you find when you have a cat or dog people ask do you want another?
Maybe it's because families do nothing together , somtimes not even eat together. All are too busy. But these people love their animals and would want another. They are medicinal for your health and maybe just a lot of lonliness out there. But to the extreme? you are right.

and i have a message for those who dont like emMy wife had chickens and rabbits also. One show rabbit won a prize at a festival. I no longer have pets. I grow cacti and plants instead. No hair, and they don't talk back too you!

We had a guerilla monster Lizard from Mexico. I built a cage for him, complete with a waterfall and heated hot rocks. His diet was lettuce. Lizards like sprayed water, and we always kept a bottle on hand. When you spray them, they freeze and look upwards.
My wife liked to fill the bathtub up to let him swim.
That was great, but one day the Lizard disappeared out of the bathtub. It took us 3 days to find him. He was living under my lounge chair where I watched TV! He had big choppers for teeth. He must have liked me! LOL!

My High school best friend Jerry had a pet Tarantula spider named Shirley. (His parents had 2 poodle dogs). He would freak us all out by allowing Shirley to sit on his shoulder, she was very large.
We always knew that these spiders could leap a good distance if they wanted to, so Jerry was always front and stage. Tarantula’s shed their skin once a year. Jerry had a small clear plastic box where he would mount the skin to look real and show to all of us.
One day, while Jerry was trying to put Shirley back into her cage, she fell to the floor and was mortally injured. Jerry tried to pick her up, but it was too late. That was the first time that she tried to bite Jerry.

The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however.. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.
For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom !If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required.
The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, and then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.
Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:
TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:
(1) They live here. You don't.
(2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture
(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.
Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
(1) eat less,
(2) don't ask for money all the time,
(3) are easier to train,
(4) normally come when called,
(5) never ask to drive the car,
(6) don't smoke or drink,
(7) don't want to wear your clothes,
(8) don't have to buy the latest fashions,
(9) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and
(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children

My wife increased the number of cats to 27 by breeding. I pleaded with her to get the number of cats back down to 4. She refused. I bit into the sandwich and there was a clump of cat hair that I was chewing on.
Dogs shed too, but you don’t normally find hair in your sandwich.
That was the turning point for me to divorce my wife among other things. She is lucky that she wasn’t cited for animal cruelty. Some of her kittens were stepped on and crippled or died by visitors.
