Weather has been happening since the creation of the planet Earth. It's just now there are people and houses in the path of the storms. Just like our earthquakes here in California there is no knowing when we'll get hit by a really big one that will cause mass devastation. 1989 was enough for me. Same can be said for Hurricanes.
As for Katrina the problem wasn't so much the hurricane but the fact New Orleans sits below sea level and to believe a levee is going to hold back the Ocean? Well, you have to be just crazy to live in a fish bowl to begin with.
You can do it. I did it and millions more women and men are/have raised their children alone.
What is important is that your child's needs and happiness be your priority more than seeking a mate. Never place your child second behind any man.
If a man is worth having he will want a women who feels that way. It is something I've always looked for in a man is that same love for his child(re) that I have for my son.
That is so great that you've lost weight and even more wonderful is you are trying to give up cancer sticks. I quit smoking in 1998 but did it cold turkey. Had to because I was getting scary sick. Never have touched them again. Once you are done with them you will be so amazed at how much better you will feel. The habit part is the hardest to break. You just have to decide that you are stronger than the cigarettes. It's not easy but very possible. I'm very proud of you and will keep you in my prayers.
You know we don't have hurricanes out here in California. Might be a good time to think about relocating?
Seriously, my prayers are with the East Coast and especially those idiot who chooses to "ride out" the storm in their beach front home because someone might steal his big screen TV.
It is so very hard for anyone to immigrate even for a legitimate cause of love and marriage now that it makes no sense to search for love far away.
I have a friend who has been fighting for over 2 years to bring his fiancee to the USA. He visits her ever 6 months, they have had a large traditional engagement party and yet her Visa hasn't been approved because immigration isn't convinced this is a real relationship.
Maybe if she were European verses Vietnamese it would go easier? See, where we live we have the largest Vietnamese population in the world outside of Vietnam.
Not the same thing... CS is a dating site. Facebook is a social networking site. Facebook is where we socialize mostly with people who are our real friends and our family members. I've made numerous new friends on FB via the games I actively play but still they are cyber friends who I have a common interest with.
