I agree totally, I love the English language, it can be so expressive and colourful when used correctly.
I read the posts here and wince when I see errors made that are so basic and child like,I just make the assumption that English is not their first language.
I do not think poor grammar/spelling is a reflection on intelligence, but is a reflection on the writers character, a well phrased and coherent post shows someone gave thought and imagination, whereas poor grammar and spelling shows they could well be lazy and uncaring.
We all make mistakes, but when a person continuously posts with little regard to their spelling etc. It shows a greater picture of that persons personality. IMO

If it came from a respected News source "Reuters" for example then it is worth discussing, but the utter drivel put out from Utube is just beyond belief

Of course there are good and bad in every country, we all know this, the fact remains that sadly, many of your countrymen when in the UK have displayed an attitude that is not liked in England. This attitude gives a bad reflection on your country as a whole, so maybe you should argue with those in from your own country who caused this rather than someone who has shown you respect and agreed with you that Romania is a lovely country with lovely people.
There is no doubt that there is a cultural difference between the two places, and as was said, maybe both people should learn about those differences before entering into a relationship.

Claudya, you have to understand that in the UK there are many Romanians who are not particularly liked, they take money from the government and do no work, they refuse to learn English and a minority have been found to be criminals, this makes people in Briton think that Romania is all like this, I have been to your country, I know it is beautiful especially in the spring and that most people there are kind and generous, my countryman was not being offensive, just saying how he felt.

No I can imagine that, When I lived in Droitwich I got flooded, and and huge bills after trying to dry the place out, shame they can't reduce the costs when the weather turns so bad.
Still better than here where we have NO heating and it gets to -4 at night I have an electric blanket, and adverts for a human hot water bottle (Female) in the local papers

Even China has sent relief teams, the same people who had experience from the Earthquake in Southern China a couple of years ago, lets all hope something good can emerge from this terrible tragedy.

Yes I fully agree, but then it is easier for us as men to do this, I also had a guest stay at my home in the UK but we had communicated a great deal and both knew what each other was like, even then I made sure that she had details of a local hotel in case she felt awkward.

The lady I am "Chatting" with has some English ability, but I still make sure I write an email after we speak on the phone to make sure she fully understood what we had discussed.

I do this to make sure it does not "cause trouble"

Maybe they are asking for you to recommend a hotel nearby when they ask "Where should I stay?" with many LDRs you also have to take the language misinterpretation into account !!

I am travelling across China in a few weeks to meet someone, I asked exactly that question, But, I was inquiring about a hotel not requesting that I stayed at her home.
