But thats the whole point, Everyone knows the Japanese are warmongers, what the west fails to understand is that Chinese people are placid and quite the opposite, this is due to the secrecy I mentioned in my other post, if the Chinese where more open, then the west would have a greater understanding of your culture and life style, they would then see they have no need to be fearful of China "Taking over the world" they will understand that China has enough problems looking after their own people without concerning those in other countries.
It is also down to the indigenous population to help themselves, the Chinese attitude of regarding exam marks as more important than actually understand and being able to use a subject is determined by the people not the government, When Chinese people realise that learning how to use maths or chemistry or a language rather than have teacher teach students to pass an exam, that is when China will really blossom.
The reason HK has less wealth now than when under the UK administration is that now the PRC is taxing the businesses in HK and taking money out of HK and into mainland China, before all money made in HK was spent in HK. Nothing to do with the USD!!! Just your usual greed.
Hong Kong is still the second wealthiest province in China
I think it is the other way around Most westerners like Chinese Asians, Filipinos and Indonesians, but regard Japanese with some distrust
The biggest problem the Chinese government has IMO is that they are too secret, they need to be more transparent and open, so while the west may not agree with their policies, they can at least understand why certain things happen within China.
Because the PRC government know that 75% of the chinese population cannot afford the products that China manufacture. The west can!!!!!! By offering to support Italy, African countries etc, China is establishing loyalty rather than blackmail.
However, unless China does something to help their own poor, they may well find that the rebellion taking place in countries like Libia, Egypt et al, will happen in Beijing, the disparity between real poverty and real financial wealth in China is huge, Big businessmen flaunting their wealth, even buying private jets at millions of dollars, yet cannot get a pilots license to fly it. While farmers scrimp and save to try and pay for their childs education, working 7 day weeks 15 hours a day, often splitting a family as one or both parents move to another city for work.
Try telling that story to the thousands of orphan children, the result from the earthquakes in China and the rest of the world, they will tell you there is NO god and that it was simply luck no soldiers died, the same as it was bad luck their parent, brothers and sisters died. That your friend believed it was God that saved him is his rightful opinion, but don't expect others to assume it is absolute proof!
I agree, but maybe the actual hit rate of the ads is higher than we think because the Lurkers use them more than posters, the number of readers of threads is still very high in comparison to the actual posts. Who knows, maybe they BS the advertisers with made up numbers
Exactly, so many undeserved was banned but the guilty remained, that many just left in disgust. As Body says, it may have been the mods plan so they have less work to do running the forum
Good to see you again, have been travelling, UK. Italy, Thailand and Philippines then back home to China. Now missing Italy, really love that country and food to die for, you can only cook rice two ways here, fried or boiled, and easy to get bored lol But at least is is home now.
Nice to meet you too. To be honest I wasn't expecting a reply, but was amused that others posted exactly what I had already written. Not a problem. You live in a great country by the way, I lived in Calgary and the Vancouver for awhile back in the late 90s, Bloody cold but fantastic people, and youspeak British English (Mainly)
CS is not the same as it was, us older members still look back at the "Good old days" with sadness I think. It is like a circle, new members come and the old ones get pushed aside, I remain but mainly because I have many friends here that I chat to outside of the forum, especially those in China, I rarely post these days and when I do it is almost always overlooked or else an old member responds. For example I posted recently regarding an English Grammar problem, my post was ignored yet new members posted exactly the same as my original response and discussed those , so whats the point?
You mean this village?? http:www.andaluz.tv/lastest_news_costa_del_sol/crea_tn.php?gd=2&src=../img_andalucia/fotos_noticias/news_andaluztv_6302.jpeg&maxw=600]
No rose tinted glasses, just in a position to see and learn from both sides of the argument, I guess you failed to notice that the Philippines have just renamed the South China sea, the "West Philippine Sea" done by their government as a taunt to China, but only because they know they can call on the US for military support. I don't pretend to understand the problems with Tibet, very few really do!! But my understanding is that if Tibet breaks away from Mainland China, that could cause the rest of China to also look at be creating independent countries from other provinces, similar to the breakdown of the USSR. Of course China is fearful of this happening, with the second largest population to feed they need all the land they can get to grow food. My own opinion is let Tibet go, but also let the Tibetians know they will have no support whatsoever from China, including food, education etc, lets see how it survives. China has been and is in fights over disputed borders, that is quite correct, but, can you show me where China has actually invaded a foreign land that has had no link whatsoever with China?? In todays economic climate, countries such as the Philippines would do far better to ask for investment and financial support from China, rather than poke a stick in China's eye. JMOH
Hmmm, yet exactly the opposite is the opinion in China, here they know that America has a history of interfering with countries that may have a problem, usually by armed force. China's understanding is that within 5 years it will displace America as the worlds superpower, America, like a spoiled child who has lost its toy, will have a hissy fit and retaliate against China, so China is showing the world it will not bow down to American demands be they verbal or military. If the west uses actual logic, there is absolutely no reason for China to attack North America, in fact, logic shows it would be an incredibly stupid move, when you bear in mind that America owes China Billions of dollars, and , is a major customer for Chinese made goods. China is a vast country, with the second largest population in the world, it is all the Chinese government can do to look after their own people without the added burden of trying to control another large country, especially a hostile one!! Regarding the build up of military in the Seas around China, most of this stems from repeated aggression by the Philippines and by Japan, remember that historically, China and Japan hate each other due to Japans constant aggression and, more importantly, its (Japans)refusal to admit to the attacks, even changing history books to deny the atrocities carried out on China mainland in the past. Having lived and learnt just a fraction of real Chinese history, it has completely changed my western view on this passive and non aggressive country, populated by some of the worlds kindest and friendliest people.
Oh great I have a friend in Bali, who has just bought a hotel complex, so will be going there in August on my way back from the UK. No worries, I am sure I can find some company while there
I have split loyalties, as I was born in Kenya, but later moved to England for my education, in my heart of hearts I guess my greatest love would be to Kenya, just such happy memories from there. But in reality if either country asked me to support them in a time of war I would give more attention to England as I have lost faith in the Kenyan Government, I would however support Kenya against an invasion by an other country. Patriotism to me is being loyal to a particular country that has helped to form the personality and character of the individual. That said, we still see people with misplaced loyalties.
Spontaneity, keeps things fresh I think,a decision on a friday evening to drive to the coast for the weekend, no planning no pre conceived ideas, just thunk of it and go
Yet again I wish CS would do the same as a number of other similar sites, where they show the country of the site member by IP address. So useful to see someone who says they are in China but actually are in Russia, and so very easy to implement.
RE: ITALY IS ASKING CHINA TO BUY A LARGE AMOUNT OF THEIR NATIONAL BONDS. I REALLY HOPE SHE WON'T BE SILL
