Very little on the news here in China, about this sad case, when I asked my students they all agreed he should have been executed, but when I read them the article in the Sunday Telegraph they became uncertain, saying maybe the government should have done further checks to see if he was mentally unbalanced, sadly they don't believe the government refused to use the medical reports issued by the UK, they believe what the Government tells them

I had an Asian secretary who became ill after one particular fast, she just kept loosing weight even after the end of the fast, she just found she could not keep food down, took over a month for her to regain some weight and several months before she could work.
During Fasts now she always eats during the day. Just small amounts but often.

Bears hibernating use the fat they built up by overeating when food was in good supply, they don't fast in order to "De-Tox" but rather to sit out the cold weather .

Nesting birds are fed by their mate, check out "Nature Watch" on the BBC it showed how the pair of breeding birds supported each other, if their is a lack of available food, then yes of course the parent will sacrifice their food in favour of the young.

Neither case is a forced fast due to a notion that by not eating they will suddenly become healthy.

What other animal purposely fasts? I cannot think of one, nature rather than religion should rule our lives, and it is natural to eat every day.
Fasting causes shock to the system, we require food for energy.
A far better idea surely, is to stop eating crap fast food and eat a wholesome diet, which includes vegetables, fruit and meat/fish.

I am here until August, then return to the UK for a month then maybe back here for another year, have yet to make my mind up, I may go to Hong Kong or Guangzhou I hope to explore more during the spring holidays when I get a month off.
Shanghai was okay, but not that clean, where I am now is beautiful, with crystal clear air, wonderful mountains, rivers etc and the people are some of the most friendly and generous I have ever encountered.

Yes it's true, Chizhou is a small city just 1.5 million population, so not on most maps, and when it is shown it's in Chinese Characters, I have yet to learn how to read those So I just follow the Yangtze River and look for a sharp bend

I have tried to update my pictures, but the site stops me saying I broke there rules, yet I have never uploaded an indecent picture, I once had a pic of a cat for a joke so guess the Mods consider that a breach of their regulations.
So Maybe others have also upset the mods and cannot upload a picture

They are also the cause of spreading diseases, which is why more and more countries are adopting the western toilet which you sit on.
In China the public conveniences use them, they are disgusting and totally unhygienic

Sorry maybe in American English, but in the Queens English the sentence has a plural, therefore "is" must be changed to "are"
In the sentence "The quality of one's words is a good reflection of the quality of one's opinions" The use of Quality refers to the "one's Words" not to "is" had the writer posted "One's word" then "is would be correct.

-3 here in Anhui province, with a wind chill of about -9, so about to go to bed to get warm, there is no heating in my apartment, apparently they say the winter is too short to need heating so I have bought an electric fire and electric blanket, hope they can keep Jack Frost away

In any relationship communication is the key, if you can talk about your problems and find a compromise then there is no reason why your love cannot be rekindled, only give up when you have tried every other solution, relationships need work, like a garden we need to give food and sustenance, but also remove the weeds that choke the life from the roses and orchids,even the most overgrown garden can be restored to a place of beauty, it just takes time and patience, love and devotion.
