I'm truly amazed this thread hasn't been locked down already. Seldom have I seen such behavior from supposed adults.
It has always been my feeling that China would never stand for radical islamists in their midst and it looks like I was right.
As for being scared of China, why should we be scared of China? China is a business partner to the extent, they make, we buy, we borrow, they lend, we develope technology, they steal it.
Maybe you need to go back and re-read my opening statement. "This thread is not about how much you are loved or how much good you've done, it's about money pure & simple.
I can give you at least 2 facts. 1, Most people don't know what they're worth. 2, Most people are worth more than they think.
Here's a little list of things that you could use to list your NETWORTH"
My intent was to give everybody a METHOD of determining their "networth" which is a financial term used by banks, mortgage co's, Credit card co's or any company large and small whom you may wish to open a credit account with. Go sit down with a mortgage broker when you are looking to buy a house and produce an accurate and current document of your net worth and I guarantee you will be 3 times more likely to get that mortgage. It doesn't mean you are any more wealthy than somebody else in your neighborhood, it DOES mean you've done your homework and you obviously have a good handle on money management. This means the world to anybody you may be seeking credit from.
It's kinda funny but I had a strong feeling this thread would degrade to "It don't matter how much money you have, all that matters is if you have a big heart." In that sense I am not disappointed.
My views on Sarah Palin for what it's worth. First of all I think it was a very big mistake for John McCain to pick her as a running mate in the last election and by most experts opinion it probably cost him the election or at the minimum gave Obama a landslide victory which he may not have gotten otherwise. Her stumbles during interviews where it was painfully obvious that she really wasn't very well versed on so many important issues (how could anybody expect to be elected a heartbeat away from the most powerful position on earth and not even know what the Bush Doctrine is?). To be the butt of so many comedy skits on SNL and they were not very kind in my view but were mocking on her intelligence, swung a lot of people who may have voted for McCain to choose Obama lest God forbid this ignorant person rises to become president. She was clearly not qualified for that job but it wouldn't have been such a big factor if McCain was a much younger man. I seriously doubt McCain was the one who picked her, rather somebody it was else in the campaign.
From all I've heard she didn't do too bad as Gov. of Alaska. Her personal family problems were not so unique compared to other families especially with teenage children as well as a child with Down Syndrome. At least she was living a life in the real world with real world problems. To me that was one of the appealing aspects of Sarah Palin, she is also a very beautiful woman and whoever doesn't think so needs new glasses.
Now she resigns her position which she fought for and was elected to by the citizens of Alaska halfway through her term. I'm afraid this will haunt her politically for the rest of her life. She will be branded a quitter. That handle will be welded to her the way the potato is welded to Dan Quale.
I've only see 4 of those, fistful, for a few, the good, and once upon. They all kind of blend together in my mind after so many years I can't tell them apart anymore. At one time I really loved Once upon a time in the west. So that gets my vote.
It is! But there's a big difference between dissent & deception. It's an old tabloid trick to throw up a big SENSATIONAL HEADLINE and qualify it with small print. The National Enquier does it all the time. It works because so many people are either too lazy or to rushed in their daily lives to read the details so they come away believing the big lie.
You really are a rabble rouser aren't you? You title this thread as though it's a fact instead of your own personal vendetta against this president. You are so eaten up with hate you make Bush haters look meek. What's eating at your guts? Is it his color? Is it that your party lost? I guess you intend to spend the next 3.5 years slamming him everyday hoping to win back the White house in 2012. It's my guess that if Obama wins re-election in 2012, which he probably will, your guts will explode.
Big expensive weddings are probably the worst way to start married life for a young couple.
I had a friend, actually a room mate who was dating a really spoiled brat and they were hot to get laid married but she insisted on a lavish wedding or at least her mother did. My buddy was a simple guy who had a job that paid barely over min wage. After the wedding they rented a tiny little house which only had 2 rooms and sort of a kitchen and bathroom not much bigger than a telephone booth. I think the whole place was about 200 square feet. She insisted on getting this massive four poster bed with equally massive dresser etc. When you went into the bedroom you had to climb across the bed to get to the dresser. This must have felt like prison to both of them. Their marriage lasted about 1 year. She moved back into her parents house and he moved in with his mother. As I recall her dad spent about $10,000 on their wedding. I was the best man and had to make a little speech at the reception. I commented on how much alike they were. I couldn't have been more wrong.
From the interviews of the victims of his scam I saw on TV, it would seem that many if not most of the people who did get some money back from Madoff were seduced into believing it was legit and re-invested their gains with him and even added more money up to every available dime they had in some sad cases.
Bernie Madoff scammed a lot of people to the tune of about 65 Billion dollars. That much we know. What we don't know is where all that money went. Or do we? Not even Houdini could make 65B disappear. So, where did all that money go? If you add up all of the possessions of Madoff and his family including the food they ate, it would fall short of even a half billion. That leaves 64.5 billion unaccounted for.
I am quite certain that all that money has been redistributed among 1000's of investors and traders who's capital gains were funded by Bernies capital losses through bad investment decisions fueled by Mr. Madoffs megalomaniacal penchant for taking risk. It's a lot like the gambler who hits a losing streak and instead of admitting he was wrong and step away from the game, doubles the bet several more times til he is so under water that he finally breaks down mentally and symbolically falls on his sword the way Madoff did. He so hates himself that he wants and needs to be punished if he is ever able to look at himself again. This is why when he was sentenced to 150 years behind bars he actually thanked the judge, because the judge gave him exactly what he craved at the time. To be punished! Severely!
If he winds up in Marion IL or Leavenworth KS Federal Prison I doubt he will last very long. This is a man who's been accustomed to living the life of a Billionaire. Hard time will be a lot harder on him than it would on some gang banger or repeat offender like Charlie Manson.
100% serious. Let's see, you're in NE so you won't have to worry about rising sea levels but you will have to find something that will grow at 140 degrees if global warming hits the tipping point.
RE: What is it like...
Damn! I was just gonna say that.
