RE: Snow

And ... Switzerland ended up with only 2 days of snow this year!! In the Canton of Zurich anyway. Even the annual school ski-holiday was cancelled last week, because there is not enough snow up in the Alps for the kids to ski!

Is this a sign of Global Warming? or just a natural phenomenom? Like a seven year sort of Jubilee sort of thing....?

RE: Different Cultures

We all bleed, and we all hurt, and we all love our children.

And does anyone else find it strange that the cultures who fight the most with each other are the ones who are the most similar to one another? Take the Jews and Arabs...they both wear those little scull-caps to worship, dont eat pork, segregate their mosques/synagogues, have male only "priests", they even argue and fight over the same ancestry, and Holy places?dunno

RE: love- how do we find true love again

Here is ANOTHER "Love" thread, albeit with a little difference.... "how to find it .. again"? With some very worthwhile postings worth reading... and contributing to?

Someone here states that its not something you can "find", and I agree with this. What you search for you dont seem to find. What you give... is what you receive...?

RE: the alphabet game

There is a car called a "ye gods"? like a chariot or something?confused

RE: the old country

Yes, its the remembrance of the good things. I often think of the beaches with their huge crashing waves, the salty spray, moonlight over the sea, the sun rising over the Indian Ocean, b'b'queing breakfast on the beach, surfing the waves, restaurants on the beach, the realy groovy Wild Wild West Saloons where we could party till the early hours... keeping an eye out for the tame donkeys who came wandering thru the pub and eating anything on the tables and upending the odd bottle of beer!

Then I gotta remember that now we get mugged on those same beaches, have ones possessions removed from the beach if one is in the water, cars stolen outside the pubs, get shot at while drinking coffee out on the patio, killed on the roadside if one's car breaks down, clubbed to death in ones sleep if house security is not up to scratch.... all those sort of irritating little things that make being an Ex-Patriot bearable.

RE: hi

This is the type of thing I am meaning in my posting under the "Portfolio of Complaints" thread......

With all the seperate "Joke of the Day", "Hi", and other nothingness, Threads that could be interesting subjects get lost in the past.dunno

PORTFOLIO OF COMPLAINTS...

This has nothing to do with the Austria get-together.... read my last posting.

It has to do with Cluttering up the Forum with subjects rated as Taboo by the CS Moderators.

RE: what do you expect from your man ?

laugh cheering Oh, Shimmy, you look like an angel, and you speaketh like a little devil!!!! Love it!.. and sooooo true too!dancing

RE: would corporal punishment reduce crime.

I think that the correct use of Corporal Punishment, like 6 lashes on the backside, administered by a Court Appointed person, after a teenager has been found guilty of a crime, would solve a lot of youthful problems. Since the abolishment of this form of punishment, teenage violence has escalated almost out of control.

I had a nephew who suffered this treatment.... and he said it was the most awful thing he ever had to endure, and it cured his mindset that he could indulge in petty crime. He went on to become a person to be proud of, and often stated his experience as the turning point of his life (at the age of 14!).

RE: Hi everybody - New to the EU Forums

Greetings from Switzerland...wave

Nice to see a "muscle-man" on site!... I'm the Granny here, and usually spend my time talking nonsense, and irritating wherever I find an opportunity.... inbetween offering sage-like words of wisdom to guide the lost and wavering.

Anyway, welcome, and hope you join in the discussions.dancing cheers

RE: love

Magazines do this sort of thing.... they do it on an annual rota, using the same subject. I see here, we have it on a monthly rota?
Same questions.
Would it not suffice, and save space on the site, to check back and regurgitate a thread dealing with the exact same topic?dunno

PORTFOLIO OF COMPLAINTS...

Being the Head of this Department, I have a small complaint sort of thing to air here...... I've been reading the Rules of this Forum, and they reckon that Threads should be Subject based, and not consist of things like "Goodmorning" or "Goodnight" or "Hi"... for the reason that they clog up the site..... So if anyone reads this posting, maybe you got something to say? about this?

Like for instance.. having a "Birthday" Thread, would it not work better for posting ALL birthday greetings there? We dont want to mess up the CS site, do we? Or does no one realy care?dunno

RE: what do you expect from your man ?

One elderly "foreign" lady here.... with her own comment. At this stage in my life, I would settle for someone with a pleasant sense of humour, and a twinkle in his eye!dancing

RE: love

Someone has asked me to give a Brief summary of these Beautitudes about love... for further discussion, so if this annoys certain folks, kindly leap over my posting.

"If I talk a lot about Love, am able to perform miracles to impress people, give everything I have to the poor, make great outward shows of Love... but am impatient, envious of what another has, boast about my goodness, am proud, rude, seek my own higher good, hold grudges, tell "little" lies, fail to protect others, have no trust, hope, or perseverance... then I have failed Love."

There is a little story I like that illustrates the above... "A dirty old beggar, smelling of stale liquor, dressed in rags, covered in sores, arrives at the rich mans door, to beg food and warmth. He is turned away, and told to go "get a job and pull himself together".
The rich man dies, and is confronted by God, who tells him to proceed somewhere else. "But why God? I gave lots and lots of money to the church and charity in my life". God replies... "When I came to your door, hungry and cold, you turned me away".

RE: Hello I'm Jan.....

That IS one of the nicest things about having done the baby thing early I must agree! I also go out with my sons and their wives, and we have such fun. Sometimes I try and allow them to go without Mama, and their response is "Its no fun without you"... and I take that as the best compliment ever!

So what if you the oldest woman in the club.... you must be the grooviest ... and probably having the most fun and enjoyment... and setting a good example of how to be.dancing wine

RE: new life new beginning

you wanting to transer 6 to 8 million people from another continent to Europe? When there is already a huge problem with refugees?

The bleeding hearts should just gather together their extra cash and donate it towards some birth control measures, in situ, where the problem is. Nations have to learn how to control themselves if they want the best for their people.

There are already millions of orphans adopted by Europeans in Europe. If any major new effort were made, the planet would spin off its axis with the imbalance!

Before making bold new statements.... go see for yourself why there is this problem... its called "Civilisation"... for nations who drive new Mercedes and BMWs, and do not believe in adoption of children amongst themselves.eu Ah, and I just found me a new Emoticon.... now THATS what I call PROGRESS!
