RE: Christmas=sadness?

I do that for them...why have them spend the day, or even part of it, here with just me instead of being with their dad, Bubba, all of their aunts, uncles, cousins? That would be selfish on my part. That's why.

I will always sacrifice for my children.

RE: What rock songs make you want to dance?

I don't think that's a female lead.

There are many that would fit that by Joan Jett, Pat Benetar, and the Eurythmics.

RE: Pills to loose weight!

thumbs up Agreed, Ken. That's the way to do it. It doesn't always produce the fastest results, but it does work best over time because the results stay as long as you stick with it...lifestyle changes is the best way.

RE: In total shock & disbelief

I'm so sorry, Sweet. hug hug hug

RE: Christmas=sadness?

Yes. I spend Thanksgiving and Christmas alone so that my sons can be with their dad and his family. The rest of my family lives back home in NH again...so, those are just another day for me...but ones when all of my friends are with their families, so I am truly alone then.

RE: The Good Old Days....

It's a blessing that you had a time like that in your life. I have none that have been all peaceful with no troubles...I am creating that now.

RE: TRUE AMERICAN MUSIC

Cool...and yes, the drums and flutes of Native American music are very soothing and relaxing. I love meditating to it.

I've made my own drum and am working on my flute, and know a few songs.handshake

Same with the ability to cry. My dad is half Irish...during movies or shows that had the rest of us crying, the tissue box had to go to him as well. He was never afraid to cry...or pick up a mop or dish towel. He fed and changed us as babies, too. And then fixed the cars and mowed the lawns...and this is my ideal of what a man should be like.

I don't go for the strong, silent types who can't cry. I go for the strong types who aren't afraid to show their emotions...or cook and clean.

RE: Do you believe we come from monkeys as Darwin told? (evolution)

Ah...BP, you bring up the point that I always use to prove the Adam and Eve thing to be a parable (story), you know...that thing we're told growing up that the bible is full of? If Adam and Eve were the first people created, and thereby the only ones alive at that time...who were these other people in a distant land? dunno

I agree with the genetic experiment theory, and that those ancestors are the ones originally referred to as Gods, which was later changed to "only one God", in the bible.

History, folks...it was originally plural. Constantine's Nicean council changed it to singular and voted that Christ was divine.

RE: The Good Old Days....

No. There are many times that have their good memories, but they have their bad ones, too.

The past is past, it's done and gone. I'll live in the now and carry on.

RE: What´s it like where you are?

RE: It's Raining -- What would Like To Do ??

Ah...every rose has its thorn...Hawaii, or at least Honolulu, has cockroaches, and you can't get rid of them. They can't spray because they'd have to tent the buildings since all of the water supply is rainwater. Your water bill is the highest utility there because of it. Anyway, we had to wash all of the dishes and pots and pans before and after eating and take the garbage out daily...and the morning we left I'd woken to find one crawling on my older son, who was a baby then. At the time, I was glad to leave.

RE: It's Raining -- What would Like To Do ??

I don't mind the snow...it's the cold that bothers me! laugh Sometimes I wonder why I didn't stay in Hawaii! doh Oh, yeah...I was married and pregnant then. Hindsight makes me wish I'd stayed. laugh

RE: Who made the most difference in your life?

Ah, Ship...thank you for mentioning second grade. That's the one that was another great influence on me...or at least, was a big help to me.

I really wish that all teachers would keep in mind the difference that they can make to a child.

RE: Who made the most difference in your life?

I had a math teacher in 4th grade tell me I was stupid and would never be able to learn math because I was struggling still with multiplication due to a move in the middle of 3rd grade. I had moved from a school that was behind my new one, and had a lot of catching up to try to do.

I'm forever grateful to the one in fifth grade who stayed after school with me, sent home flashcards and assignments, and let me know she believed I could do it. I was lucky enough to have her again in 7th and 8th grades (Catholic school) because it was her patience and belief that helped me learn algebra. Without her I'd have been lost.

thumbs up Awesome thread, Dazzle.

RE: Today's thought...........

Such a good post! Yes, the OP definitely describes how positive thoughts and negative thoughts feel, and how they would look as colors. That's why I turned my house from something drab and dreary into one that's bright and cheery. Being in it helps to lift my spirits.

Yes, there are things in my life I would like to change...and one by one I'm changing them.

Blessings, Pat. Shanti.

RE: Gm and Christler

Yep...I've heard about it. I think that only time will tell what will happen...but something will. Maybe GM and Chrysler will get bought out by foreign auto makers. Maybe they'll merge. I don't know.dunno

RE: Just Wondering

Congratulations! I wish you the best! applause applause

RE: Gender stereotypes...and surprises

I agree...I think only a strong man would want to help, and it should be returned when she's at your house. Again, it should be equal.

And there's nothing wrong with a man liking to cook. I know many men who can cook much better than I can, and love to share recipes. My late husband loved to cook, and there were many guys in the bars who liked talking about cooking tips with him. And I don't think anyone would dare to call Emeril a wuss...or the guy that does the Throwdowns on the Food Network.
