Apart from last night when I had a huge unidentifiable creepy crawly in my kitchen, remember James!! I don't really mind living alone but it's a relatively new experience for me having been married for a very long time. Today though I suddenly had no electricity, this does happen occasionally here in Spain but the first time for me since I have been living alone. I did not have a clue what to do, the fuse box (does that translate the same into American English?) is a complete mystery to me and I had to go and get help from a neighbour. I felt very stupid and embarrassed. because all it needed was a flick to one of the switches.
Me! I changed career to teach English, Turkey, Poland, Portugal and now I'm here in Spain where I live. I always loved to travel before and have been fortunate enough to have visited many beautiful countries around the world. Just make sure if you are working abroad to stay away from the tourist spots because the ex-pat lifestyle, in my opinion, is awful and you will never integrate fully and feel part of the country and its culture.
Constructive criticism or simply a difference of opinions I have no qualms with but if someone says deliberately hurtful words or insults then yes, I care very deeply. I wish I had a thicker skin but I don't and never will. What I find even more worrying is that I try to analyze what has been said and why, for a long time afterwards, which only makes things worse.
I went back to University to do a Spanish degree when I was 40 and I too was one of the oldest but after a while the kids got to know me and treated me like a mate. I made sure I would go on some of the drinks celebrations and eventually age just didn't seem a factor. If you afre young at heart then you will be accepted. Just have fun and join in.
Know exactly what you mean! I have been married, have grown up kids, live in and work in a foreign country but my mum, God bless her, still grabs my hand when we cross over the road together!
oops that's what one glass of wine does! I don't know what this thing is, it's not a spider but I want it out of my kitchen! Advice please without having to touch it, or get over here now and save me!
I like spiders and am noy afraid of them but there was something very strange crawling on my kitchen floor about 10 minutes ago and I don't like it, it's reddish black, quite big with a lot of legs! I have trapped it under a cup but don't know what to do next! Scared to touch it!
As part of the recruitment process some companies take candidates to a restaurant where particularly difficult foods have been pre-ordered, in order to test his/her table manners. If you are going on a dinner date for the first do you avoid certain foods, like spaghetti for example?
There are two schools of thought about taking aspirin. Yes it thins the blood and can reduce the chances of heart attack or stroke but it can also cause ulcers or stomach bleeding. I have been thinking about taking baby aspirin (less potent) and I always try various herbal tablets, admittedly with great sceptisism, and not regularly so its a waste of time and money really.
Just about now, its 1.10 am here in Spain and quiet on the forums so time for bed I think. Buenas noches! Unless of course someone can very quickly catch my attention!
When do you really need a man about the house?
Ok You flirt you!
