Her voice certainly is memorable. However, let's look at someone a little more recent with a soulful voice for you, Nutz. Thanks for sharing, I have listened to her music before now, Minnie is an original.
Brilliant rendition of that song, John. Doesn't that song make you wonder what the story was behind it? I have heard songwriters say they have no desire to tell the story behind the song, they would prefer to leave it to the individuals interpretation... and often we are left with a lot of interpretations because of that.
Lately because of my fairly recent discovery of the artist... When I think of the piano... I think of this lady. ( Explains why I own so many of her CD's)
I bet when you close your eyes, you can remember her music. The piano has an incredible ability to grasp your senses... I have always loved piano music and disliked organ music. Organ music never sounded as 'pure' to me.
A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon Within Temptation and they enthralled me enough for me to go out and get their CD's. I struggled in Australia obtaining them because they were not well known. However... I now own several of their CDs ...thanks to Amazon.
They seem to be that unique blend that you just talked about, John.
This is what it is all about ... pleasing men. Geez, where is the smoking emoticon... How will I even enjoy this sense of a job well done without it??!?!?!
Thanks John... do I get an elephant stamp? A gold star?
Seriously though, I love that song, "Memories"... They played it at my Grandmother's funeral... and as it played memories of her swept through my mind. It was very humbling that I could know a lady as nice as she was, as sincere, as thoughtful and loving. People who spoke about her at the funeral recited stories of their recollections of her, and it was quite emotional returning to where she had been throughout each of our lives. However, I would never turn back time and wish her back... her time was done, and I am simply thankful for knowing her.
If we could look back on all of our memories this way, the good and the bad... wouldn't it be more pleasant for all of us?!
Unfortunately I can't watch the video at home, I have crashed the PC in a storm recently, and it has a new mother board. My software is conflicting with the software the 'repairer' used.
Silent night, holy night All is calm, all is bright Round yon Virgin Mother and Child Holy Infant so tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight Glories stream from heaven afar Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia! Christ, the Saviour is born Christ, the Saviour is born
It's the popular version I learned as a child. I simply followed John's example, and used the original. I think Horizon wants to distort the original a little.
What Hollywood teaches us is how we associate different periods in history with different music styles. Later on, lyrics reflected upon the political stance of the time... They could tell a story and get the general consensus across.
RE: music you like....AGAIN... :-D
