Only for a brief time when I drove out of a service station. It was probably the weird situation I had just experienced in the service station that threw me off.
Your examples of these changes are brilliant. We live in a world where we have better access to music than we ever did. I still recall as a teenager that boom boxes were all the rage. The fact that you could put batteries into these bulky boxes and then head outside , hang with friends and listen to music was brilliant... of course it evolved to the portable CD player and now the Ipod's ... making music even more accessible. I was at a party last year where they used an amplifier to share someone's Ipod music... and I really enjoyed that. Often I feel with ipods that only the listener gets to enjoy the music.
There is no doubt that you are more experienced in the area of music than I am... I can simply make my own observations based on my limited knowledge. It seems for me that just when I fall in love with a new artist , another one arrives ... I wonder if one day they will find me as an old lady , passed away quietly amongst a huge pile of CDs and books. That might be a perfect finale for me.
I love how Daggy gives us a choice. So we can have a pub chick, or a guy? You really are opening our horizons, Daggy... Not that I have tried the other side ... yet.
We had a guy at work who organises our Christmas events, and he rocks. Today however, I realised he hadn't given the office workers invites in their pigeon holes at work to an event coming up... I hassled him and told him I was going to take it personally. He obviously didn't need to give us personal invites because he has it on the notice boards at work... but giving him a hard time is always a pleasure.
I love the social side of Christmas, I love the laughter, the smiles and the random acts of kindness we show strangers.
I completely understand why you are captivated by Christmas, Serene!
I am hopelessly old fashioned with Christmas. I send cards, hand written ones ... and Christmas letters to my friends. I make each one unique to them. While my life has slowed down and my friendships have fallen by the wayside over time, I get about 60 cards a year and I think there is nothing nicer than reading through them , thinking of the individuals they were received from over the Season. It's so nice to go out to the letter box and find something that is NOT a bill!
I ...um, also make Christmas pudding in cloth and Christmas cakes every year. I love my Christmas tree... and it tells a story for me- of all the places I have been in the last eight years. I have collected decorations of my trips along the way... so I have decorations from the US and from New Zealand... Bright , Bairnsdale and other little towns I stop at.
I love the scent of cinnamon and spices that permeates my home every Season. And oddly enough... I will spend Christmas alone this year, because it's my turn to work. I work one in two. However, that means someone else is sharing time with their family, so I am fine with that.
