I'm listening to a lot of heart broken families on Liveline all week because their kids have decided to emmigrate. This to me is the real cost of the crash!
Now it's one thing going across the water to the UK but many are off to Oz and Canada with many older people believing they will never see their children or grandchildren again.
I'm not Irish myself and I have considered going home to Scotland. My heart and my head are arguing! I'm still not sure!
Never used anything Mac related! Did some Z-80 machine code stuff. Basic came as standard with the early Commodore, Sinclair or BBC computer along with a tape drive.
It wasn't till I bought my Amstrad 1512 (512Kb of ram..wow) with a single 5 1/4" floppy and an 8 colour CGA monitor and no hard drive that things started getting heavy! I later upgraded with a 50 Mb hard drive which was big at the time. No windows either. MS dos all the way until I got hold of a thing called DR DOS!
It came with a system called Ability with spread sheets and a word processor!
I upgraded in time to Wordperfect, which was really annoying to use as you had to keep viewing the document on a different screen to make sure it looked ok.
I would like to have helped you but it's a long time since I did any programming. In my day we had BASIC, Modula-2, C++ and ADA! But that was 20 years ago! But I do remember labouring for hours over stepwise notation.
I hope all goes well for your sister. My own poor sister was diagnosed with breast cancer (the primary, there were 3 others) too late. She died the Christmas Eve before last, only 3 weeks after diagnosis. I don't think my mum will ever get over it.
Have you heard of shooting the messenger? Frankly I'd mind my own business. Seems a bit suspiscious to me that you're both on here.
Or is that why you joined? The forums yet again, are not the place to be discussing people's private business. Someone else tried that a few days back and was banned for her behaviour.
We have one slightly used Taoiseach that they can have for a crate of the black stuff after Friday! They'll find him a lot harder to shift than Quaddafi right enough! We had a hell of a job ourselves and he's still hanging around like a bad smell!
I can be a bit guilty of this myself to be honest and I hadn't given it much thought till you mention it so thanks. I've had so many dissappointments and even had me auld heart broken a couple of times so I think I play safe just to dip my toe in the water. I'm not afraid of committment! It's abandonment I fear and it stops me getting too close!
You're assuming that FG and Labour would have sold the country down the river the same way as FF!
I'm delighted FF won though rather than being able to pass the buck. They've never admitted or accepted responsibility though. And there are plenty folk out there who see only what they want to see and will vote for them.
RE: Libya - Latest Updates
Now, neither the British SAS or the US Navy Seals can compare to this! We'd lose the war at the first catwalk"!
