RE: Who is the owner of your thoughts?

to me consciousness is awareness as experienced in thought. some thoughts i believe are going on in our mind without our awareness. others are going on with our awareness in consciousness.

this is just my laymans opinion of it re brain/mind/thoughts etc,..
i am not scientist/philosopher/spiritualist /psychologist , writer etc or any such discipline. i left school 15 with no qualification or exams. i cant realy debate the theories of others or know the truth of their opinions , views on such matters as i have nor read their works. no doubt these guys get things right and wrong like anyone else in their ideas and theories and perspetives.

however, i would disagree with echart tolle in regards the quote you mentioned. i believe thought CAN exist without consciousness. also, i believe consciousness DOES need thought. ( and indeed is experienced as such.)

im not saying either one of us is right or wrong by the way,....its just my opinion.

.cheers

RE: Who is the owner of your thoughts?

i believe you would have made that decision.:)

i suspect that one would have a sweet tooth as a result of their genetic inheritance. they would discover it after they ate something sweet and liked it . however, i dont think it would have influenced them to eat anything sweet at outset as the brain would have no idea at that stage as to what sweet things are in the environment outside of body. therefore, it couldnt influence them to access something it knows nothing about.

having discovered one has a sweet tooth as in liking something sweet, then of course they could be influenced in choosing to access something sweet afterwards. this is the case as in buying something sweet in a shop, as a result of making a decision on info one has at their disposal, whether it be unconscious, conscious or doubly influenced. so , one is just making a decision themselves based on info that they have acquired as a result from living in their environment with the use of their genetic makeup,..brainpower.

as, to who owns our thoughts,..my opinion is that we own them ourselves in the sense that we all have our own and we acquire them indivisually from the environment and process them with our genetic , biological inheitance.

So, ANYTHING WE DO WE CHOOSE TO DO IT,..BASED ON INFO ACQUIRED AND GENETIC ABILITY.

sometimes, we can do things without thinking or knowledge or intention....such as falling overbackwards ....by accident.

and not even that is predetermined .//it just happens random reasons..balance etc.

i believe chemicles/substances influence our thoughts also, ie drugs ...but then we make our decisions on that basis in accordance with info and place of mind. one may make poor decisions in those circimstances as genetic /physical part of brain ..hence abilities are altered also.

but, in the end of the day the thoughts are our own as are the deisions made under physical circumstances of our make up at any given time and info available.

just a thought.cheers

RE: Who is the owner of your thoughts?

that makes sense,....the decision has to come before one can be aware of it.

otherwise , how coud you be aware of decision that hasnt existed.

it seems to me that consciousness is just an aspect of mind,...lots of stuff goes on in the mind before we become aware of it. most likely lots of stuff goes on in the mind that we never become aware of in a conscious fashion.

yet the conscious you and the mind are one unit as a whole, with awareness a part one thinks about consciously.

my spelling is crap but i know what i mean.lol
