RE: What was Jesus Christ's main mission 2000 years ago

jesus main mission was to do gods will.

he neither came to earth , said , done , anything of his own accord. other than doing gods will. everything he done came from god.

for god so loved the world that he sent his only begotton son , so that sins could be forgiven. those who believe in jesus , in the one god sent, will see the kingdom of heaven. that is what god wants people to do. to believe in the one he sent.

in the beginning there was the word. the word was both with god , and the word was god.
god gave life , then that life brought light into the world for all to see. jesus was the light of the world who made god known. therefore , the word was in the world.

jesus was the son of god, made man.

his glory was revealed in his being , words and actions.
his teaching , miracles , etc.
truth and grace came into the world in jesus christ.

those who believe in jesus were given the right to be called gods children. they did not become gods children by natural means,,ie by being born to physical parents. god himself was their father.

jesus also said that for people to see the kingdom of heaven, that they have to be born again. ie .....of the holy spirit. = baptism.

that is why john the baptist , who was sent by god , to make jesus arrival known to the people said.....i baptise with water, ,,but he who comes after me baptise with the holy spirit. ....i am not fit to even untie his sandles.

there was much that jesus said and done , and many miracles, including prophesise his death and ressurection.

but , as jesus himself made known in his humility, ,,he himself had no power, and was on earth to do gods will.....everything was from god.

doing gods will was his main mission.

and in doing that, he also died on the cross so that sins could be forgiven.

me thinks..beer

RE: What is truth?

wave

yes, that's because a word is a word. the mind is the mind. a concept is a concept. and so forth , just as a substance is a substance ,.whatever it is.

regardless of something having a substance or not, being manifest or not , that item in itself is not a thing called truth. it merely is what it is.

but , truth refers to the truth of something. ,, . 2 different things.

it can refer to as to whether a word or bunch of words or sentences are true or false. in terms of truth itself.

words , can also , express truths , or falsehoods.

but nevertheless words are words in themselves.

it is like brain is matter but thoughts are thoughts.
the brain in itself is not a thought..a concept.

its like that with words and truths.

you can know of a truth as you can with a thought. ..or the mind.
but it not a thing that can be put on a plate to be seen.like a brain or a word or an item.
but it is what it is in itself.

truth is truth
that's the truth. beer

RE: What is truth?

in that context , if what appears to mind we take as true. then we take both truth and untruth as true.
which is only true in a specific context. ie , that we perceive what comes to mind. regardless of its nature.

but the mind doesn't take both opposites as being the same as in its own individual truth. the mind can and does distinguish between things. it knows the difference between truth and untruth. (a healthy mind )
even sometimes its difficult to discern the truth , nevertheless , there is a truth and falsehood to be found.

for ex....is the above quote (bodeling)presented,...true or false. ? and in what context. .

truth ...is a word we use to refer to SOMETHING. its is as with all language symbolic. represents something other than the word yet its meaning is in the word.

I don't think truths or untruths are illusions that don't exit. beer

RE: What is truth?

if you are an intrinsic PART of something, then that is what one is …..a PART, therefore , are IN something.
they are not the universe , because that is made up of many parts..

just like an ingredient IN a cake , is not the whole cake. it merely shares in common with other parts that it is in it.

consciousness does not share its properties with its opposite ...unconsciousness. 2 diff parts...not one.

Eckhart tolle ….had some weird ideas. laugh

(living in the moment was one of them)

when obviously everything we do , is as a result of the past, ..as is the moment,

RE: What is truth?

what jesus said is true.

I am the way , the TRUTH , and the light , nobody comes to the father but through me.

yet, the word was in the world,, many did not receive him.

…………………………………………………..
god , gave the law through moses.,

but, TRUTH and grace , he gave through jesus Christ.

so , if truth was not absolute , how then could god have given it, and jesus have it as a result.

…………………………………………………………………..

besides, if truth is not absolute ,,,,,,then all comments n opinions on truth are untrue....

which is true.laugh

RE: What is truth?

truth is as truth does. ...

truth can be spoken in relation to stuff...… for ex. ...a colour blind person may believe red is blue. that fact is correct. its is true that he thinks , perceives such a thing.

however , red is red , blue is blue , ….that's true of the colours

like wise, it is true that people believe in truth , also in lies, or in untruths,

however, truth is truth, untruth is untruth.

both are opposities .

hence,

absolute …..in their nature.

me thinks. beer

RE: How would you define a good soul...?

i would define a good soul as a soul that is good. (not damaged/corrupted/etc)

as for what is the soul. well folk may have different ideas about that,or accept dictionary definitions. or may choose to think that there is no such thing.

i would think of a soul as being like the immaterial aspect of a human being. we have body and soul.

i would distinguish it from the body , heart , mind .,,spirit.

and just like a person can damage their body , heart, brain, mind , so too can they damage their soul .

a soul i believe can be damaged or nurtured by spirits

good spirits will nurture a soul , bad spirits will harm a soul.

just like good thoughts nurturing a mind , bad thoughts corrupting a mind
good food nurture a body , bad food damage a body..

if you put clean water into a plastic bag , the bag will hold it.
if you put acid water into a plastic bag...it wont hold it,
it will be destroyed and is no more as was.

its like that with the soul.

.
love is the life beat of a healthy soul.
a healthy soul is a good soul.
functions as such.
