Two men were sitting next to each other at Murphy's Pub. After awhile, one guy looks at the other and says, 'I can't help but think, from listening to you, that you're from Ireland .'
The other guy responds proudly, 'Yes, that I am!'
The first guy says, 'So am I! And where about from Ireland might you be?'
The other guy answers, 'I'm from Dublin , I am.'
The first guy responds, 'So am I!'
'Mother Mary and begora. And what street did you live on in Dublin ?'
The other guy says, 'A lovely little area it was. I lived on McCleary Street in the old central part of town.'
The first guy says, 'Faith and it's a sma ll world. So did I! So did I!
And to what school would you have been going?'
The other guy answers, 'Well now, I went to St. Mary's, of course.'
The first guy gets really excited and says, 'And so did I. Tell me, what year did you graduate?'
The other guy answers, 'Well, now, let's see. I graduated in 1964.'
The first guy exclaims, 'The Good Lord must be smiling down upon us! I can hardly believe our good luck at winding up in the same bar tonight. Can you believe it, I graduated from St. Mary's in 1964 my own self!'
About this time, Vicky walks into the bar, sits down and orders a beer.
Brian, the bartender, walks over to Vicky, shaking his head and mutters, 'It's going to be a long night tonight.'
Not sure how brave I would be, to do that, but I love watching them, and you can feel the thunder, and the house or earth shake. A good reminder of how much force mother nature has.
Since you are a Bluenoser.... What do you think about the Ocean? Loved feeling the waves off the coast of Ireland.
Perfect picture, being on the sea shore/ocean, lots of mountains, and a thunderstorm.
One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart.
Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said, "Why your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine."
The crowd and the young man looked at the old man's heart. It was beating strongly, but full of scars, it had places where pieces had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn't fit quite right and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing.
The people stared - how can he say his heart is more beautiful, they thought?
The young man looked at the old man's heart and saw its state and laughed. "You must be joking," he said. "Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears."
"Yes," said the old man, "Yours is perfect looking but I would never trade with you. You see, every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love - I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared. Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn't returned a piece of his heart to me. These are the empty gouges giving love is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for these people too, and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?"
The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart, and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man's heart. It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges. The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man's heart flowed into his. They embraced and walked away side by side.
How sad it must be to go through life with a whole heart.
You can have a good laugh at this Brew.... my horoscope for today.
"It takes two sticks at the right angles to create sparks -- or two opposing views, spoken by adamantly uncompromising individuals. Either way, the end result is the same -- heat!"
Helps if I put my glasses on and re read what some one typed.
Love perogis. I'll have to look it up.
My mother is a great cook and my brother is into gourmet cooking. I just keep it simple and hopefully heart healthy. :-)
My oldest son has his own version of cooking. He experiments but just with adding things to pasta.
Youngest son likes to bake. My daughter and her friend like to have cooking experiments and adventures.
Some of my favorite family memories are with my kids and I in the kitchen cooking. One Easter, in stead of measuring out how many potatoes my oldest was supposed to peel, he was told to "Peel the Potatoes".... so he did. All 15 pounds.
So we had roasted potatoes, boiled, etc etc etc. for one supper. (Don't forget Potato scones.) Good thing we liked potatoes.
Frick.... have not had moose meat since I left Que. Ever try Italian sausages made with moose meat.... very lean, very little fat. YUM
Now I'm hungry for good cooking. I can cook, but keep it simple. Nothing as fancy as you. :-)
Sounds great to me Brew. You can cook for me anytime. If your friend is coming all the way from Alta for you to cook for him. that says a lot about how good a cook you are.
I do not have a problem with various non conventional versions of healing. :-) Believe most work for some people. My comment was not to put down what the young man believes or is trying to do.
My concern just had to do with it being done on line and not in person. It's not a put down for non conventional practices. I would be more concerned over someone being diagnosed with out being seen in person, because a diagnosis for the most part requires seeing the whole picture, not just a small area.
JMO, sometimes to heal a very small problem, everything has to be examined and treated.
Negativity makes and keeps people sick, either physically, mentally and emotionally.
My cousin does acupuncture and uses natural herbs to heal his patients. A very dear friend practices an ancient Asian ways to heal. (Pronounced Chi-kung) she uses herbs, natural foods, massage, crystals or gems.
For some things that children are going through.... JMO, should not be automatically treated with drugs. Have seen that too many times. Usually something very simple will help along with patience.
My comment was not meant to be negative, just felt it was alright for me to say what I felt, as everyone else on here should be allowed to do.
Laughter is the greatest sound, and a smile up lifting...
