And it is lovely! I wish I had written the phrase 'chaos of silence'

RE: Stem Cells.

I believe checks and balances are an essential part of progress.thumbs up

It can serve to rein in the worst of the excesses human beings are prone to (although it takes what seems like a long time some times) and the mere fact of opposition can spur on achievement when frustration from lack of results starts to set in.

If they ever figure out how to decant consciouness, I would think about growing me another me from me. I would start pottery sooner!

Knowledge can be suppressed but it cannot be stamped out, someone, somewhere will think of it again, and it generally pops up in an accepting environment eventually.

People publish books with the same concept synchronously and independently; people try the same experiments; have the same insights; the same quarrels.

We are relatively short lived individually but our legacy is immortal.

RE: Stem Cells.

Maybe it is god's plan? Perhaps any and everything we do is part of the plan.

Some things I wonder about:

If we were not supposed to eat the apple of knowledge why put the tree where we could reach it?

An omniscient, omnipotent being would know anything he/she/it created would be curious enough to eat the apple.

I would think the processes of healing and creativity would be more pleasing to said being than war and destruction.

I think it is exciting. Progress and change are always scary.

Have you ever noticed that there is not a great deal of difference between the physical manifestations of fear and extrem joy? Pounding heart, shortness of breath etc. etc.

RE: Holy Ka-Mo-lee!!

I am surprised she called you if she lets her own diminutive boy drink!

What did your son think about it? I am sure you have instilled good judgment in your children!

RE: What would you do if others made you feel this way?

Well said Trish!wave

I just re read my response and it gives no hint of the work that went into getting to that point of not giving my power away! Years of meditation, self examination and just plain cussedness. Work in radio and TV and you get letters in the press that tell the whole island what people feel about you. They never seem to publish the friendly ones!

RE: What would you do if others made you feel this way?

I chose other. I am responsible for my feelings.

I live and breathe and have my being, what is there to belong to? I am already a member of the human race.

Feelings are not facts. It is entirely possible that there are people who feel I hate them. They would be wrong. So I do not assume I know what other people feel about me.

The world is full of people who do not even know I exist. How can they like me? They are busy worrying what other people think of them.

RE: I'm having laser surgery, . . . . . .

I have known several people (six) who have has laser surgery and although they were all very nervous at the prospect, afterwards they were a) delighted with the results. b) Amazed by how little post op discomfort they had. c) unanimous in saying the experience was interesting rather than terrifying.

I am a little phobic about even standard eye tests but after my friends feedback actually went to be evaluated for Lasiks, (which will not work with my vision problemsigh )

Will keep you in my thoughts on those days.comfort

I have lived long enough to have a 'past' and the only thing that was better is that I could run faster!
Things are different, and change is always unsettling,

It is also very tempting to believe that 'my' way of doing something is the right way...the ONLY right way, but that is not true. There has always been 'more than one way to skin a cat' cliches exist to express universal truths I think!conversing
