You have chosen a very long, hard road. Unfortunately, you cannot help him...but you can be, and/or become, an Enabler. Truth of the matter is...He is the only one that can help himself. You canNOT fix him. I do not mean to sound harsh, just speaking reality. My apologies if I am repeating what may have already been said...I have not read all the replies. It can be very draining... mentally as well as emotionally and certainly financially...not to mention the co-dependency issues. Take care that he does not drag you down along side himself into a darkness like no other you have ever experienced.
I was married for 26 yrs. Have been divorced (not my choice) for 6-7 yrs. I am in no hurry to give my heart, or my time, to another. Could I give ALL my love again without a small doubt...Not sure.
