My ex-husband was a Mason (Blue Lodge) and advanced through the 33 Degrees of the Scottish Rite. It went back years in his family. Masonry is a very sensitive and controversial subject. In most families, as well as churches it is a hush-hush subject. Some, when asked, bring up conspiracy theories and the New World Order. Freemasonry is a multilayered, complex organization with many interpretations of its roots, symbols and rituals. When information, activities and rituals of secret societies are made public, or revealed to the common folk and the uninitiated, that is referred to as exoteric knowledge. For example...if you attended a Masonic funeral or cornerstone dedication performed by Masons, you would see an exoteric ritual. On a somewhat deeper level in the information that remains secret. The secret information is termed esoteric knowledge, or wisdom. It is occult knowledge in that it is hidden, secret or only revealed to the initiated. There are many levels of Masonry, and the question, "What is Freemasonry?" is easily asked, but more difficult to answer. Do not assume that everything you view on the net regarding Masons, especially who's who lists on all anti-Masonic websites are accurate. Keep in mind also that most of the information on Masonic web sites is exoteric. It is specifically crafted for a curious public.
The website of the Missouri Masonic Lodge of Research states that "freemasonry teaches the universal principle of unselfish friendship and promotes moral precepts which are in keeping with all great faiths". It continues site after site, promoting the seemingly positive aspects of membership in a secret society that purposes to make good men better. W. L. Wilmshurst a masonic author, wrote a book entitled "The Meaning of Masonry". He suggests there is more to this fraternal organization. He states that there are "mysteries" to be attained. My extensive research corroborates Wilmshurst's comments: "There is more to masonry than meets the eye." My disagreement with this Masonic writer lies in the value of the "mysteries" and their effect on individual Masons and their families.
I always wanted a life long marriage...Had one for 26 yrs. and watched it go to hell. 7 yrs. later and I have no desire to re-marry at this time. I may never...I do not know. I suppose if it happens again...it happens and if it doesn't then it just does not. I love my life...I am content and satisfied with what I have. I own my home, I built a business and I am ok. I do not really get lonely to much, and when I do, it is fleeting. Sooo...I am ok.
I know Ojazos. You have been in my thoughts and prayers since last night...will continue to keep you there. Be safe my friend and keep up updated as you can please.
