RE: any smiths fans

Forgive me I got a little side-tracked with the laundry-list of personal problems Brexiteers have if they're not a loser.

I prefer this cover to any of his own songs and Bolan's original.

RE: any smiths fans

I prefer the songs he's covered which might be to do with the fact that he's Morrissey is not a charming man in the slightest. Self-loathing courses through every lyric he writes and of course he supports Brexit - and you have to ask some serious questions about any Brexiteer who isn't stultifyingly ill-informed, broken poor, or have an IQ beneath 90. Real emotional problems with anger, depression and narcissism he's easier to listen to when singing somebody elses words.

RE: Witch country would you avoid visiting

There are rougher places on earth - such as the Congo - but they inspire pity where the gulf goes beyond tragic. It is not the vices of poverty and ignorance, it is pure biological evil the very home of hell on earth.

RE: Witch country would you avoid visiting

Dubai or anywhere in the gulf really. Imagine taking the worst human beings from every country and giving them all a winning lottery ticket - that's the gulf. Disgusting Islamic Disneyland horrorshow if there ever was an argument for racial cleansing it is the gulf Arabs.

RE: commandments

That text may be thousands of years old, but it holds a more progressive stance on worker's right than we do today.

RE: commandments

In this country? Remember the sabbath day, keep it holy. God is clearly an EU-supporting social democrat you don't get the Sunday off in our 24/7 work never stops Anglo-American capitalism.

RE: Today is international "Tuen back the clocks" day

Not sure whether I really regret this or not. The older generation can be an example of what not to be, let the apple fall as far away from the tree in future as it did so in the past my dad's parents were absolute legends.

RE: Today is international "Tuen back the clocks" day

I'd have abandoned the idea of following in my fathers footsteps the typical baby boomer took early retirement at the expense of my future. Dickwad.

RE: PAIN ... How do you deal with PAIN???

Nothing I tend to not to take anything. I find that smoking weed makes anything more than a minor pain/problem even worse. For example my thighs and glutes are killing me from the gym but I can get from A to B, but if I was to smoke a spliff I would not be able to walk down the stairs.

RE: Should couples stay together for the kids...or is it just an excuse?

Do you believe marriage before the 1960s was a never-ending thrill ride between partners absolutely perfect for one another? Of course not. They faked it until they made it a better life for their kids outweighed this newfound sense of irresponsibilty we call being true to yourself.

RE: Should couples stay together for the kids...or is it just an excuse?

I say shaming the honourable thing encapsulates everything wrong with modern generations. The strength lies in walking away from something you desire or commiting to something through thick and thin, abandoning your responsiblities is the one you need an excuse for.

RE: Should couples stay together for the kids...or is it just an excuse?

An excuse for what? The grit and determination to make a better life for your kids? I don't think so.

Ending the relationship and sitting amongst turd all alone. Joining CS is what you need the excuse for.

RE: Catalonian independence declared

In other words the bourgeois bohemian dream is very left-wing. The artsy teach the world to sing as well as those in jobs which spit out human happiness are more left-wing.

RE: Catalonian independence declared

Exceptions exist. For example professionals who do the jobs which really need doing - but don't necessarily make an individual very happy - are more right-wing. Engineers are to the right of journalists. People whose career are somewhere between work and a hobby are more left-wing.

RE: Catalonian independence declared

Yet same as the American left the achilles heel of the European left is the gigantic ethnic underclass and its support for mass immigration.

RE: Catalonian independence declared

Generally speaking the european right are the asset-owning and money-moving class allied with old people and the lumpenproletariat(scamps, criminals and people of the night. cowboy tradesmen etc)and the left are the professionals, youth and better educated workers.

RE: Future of humanity

It does manifest everywhere. There's been 1 thread on CS which I would qualify as materially resourceful 1 time where the exchange of views created a practical benefit but in the old days every other thing people said was to enhance utility. Not only were they more optimistic about the future they were also a font of day-to-day wisdom the things people said made helped them to deal with real world difficulty. The lucky generation never say anything helpful in a trying situation - considering the times you should get a lot of make do and mend, make your money go further, be a good neighbour threads - I see some of them on my Facebook - but in place of this you get games and apocalyptic prophecies on elderly CS.

RE: Future of humanity

It's not simply the internet colouring perception, old people today really have two trains of thought - trivial and depressed. They're either not interested in politics at all and hopeless in the sense of trivial, and if they are interested in the world it's purely for the purpose of undoing it - a different kind of hopeless. Old people seemed to be trapped between two main drives - the impulse to frolic and the impulse to destroy. Now how do we reset that to what people were a long time ago? Is there a possibility for a new generation which can be interested without being angry?

RE: Future of humanity

Anyway, if we can survive today's old people the world is our oyster there'll be a decade or two of unparalleled social and technological progress like the 1950s and 1960s, and because of this our kids will never have it so good and they'll do the dirty on us. It's a thankless task remember what we call the greatest generation were sent to war by their parents and abandoned in nursing homes by their kids.

RE: Future of humanity

Long overdue for an upgrade I do often wonder what will end the post-1980s plateau. The way that life hasn't improved in the last 30 years compared to all times since the industrial revolution where massive gains are to be expected constantly.

RE: six Conundrums of Socialism in the United States of America

Broadly speaking we like socialism when it works whereas Americans believe greed is good there's a fundamental objection to socialism which the rest of the free world does not have. The Americans would rather be collectively worse off than feel less superior to other Americans.
