Of course , but the principle is the same . Small businesses like my own have empathy for their staff , unlike the big corporations wouldn’t think twice about closing down premises that are non- profitable.
I don’t have that excuse unfortunately. Most of my family live within driving distance & my daughter, who’s currently in Australia has conveniently introduced me to PayPal
Please don’t quote on assumptions. There were no official figures regarding the amount of teenage pregnancies to get council accommodation. I can only go by local council estates, where there was a split between single mothers & others . Drugs were never legalised in Britain. It was the immigrants from the Caribbean, who bought drugs over to this country in the 50s .
What good can legalising cannabis do , other that to create a nation of zombies. We are already seeing the effects of the cannabis generation.
Margaret Tatcher sold the council houses to residing tenants. . They weren’t sold to non residents . They had the choice to buy , or keep renting .
I’m not saying single mother should be left on the street , I’m saying girls got pregnant deliberately to get a council house .
Since when have drugs ever been legal ? Legalising cannabis , would just be the start . What about the harder drugs that are more harmful . Should they be legalised as well .
Really . Sometimes you surprise me with your comments.
Well , I don’t see that as a problem , unless you have something to hide . It’s will also reduce crime & save the police a lot of time when investigating cases . It can also be beneficial to track down on illegal immigrants.
I understand, but there has to be a happy medium but the unions had to much power . Every Industry public , or private needs to at least make a profile , or break even . What the unions were asking for was way beyond the rate of inflation.
I agree, the north was hardest hit & I know a lot of people suffered , especially the mining , car & steel industries. But it’s a result of her policies & cutting tax for foreign investors that the north is thriving now . The gap between the north east & London has reduced dramatically in the past 15-20 years .
It’s the fat cats who employ people , rather than just throwing good money after bad for the sake of employment. It’s called capitalism. Learn your economics .
Before you start throwing facts and figures at me , council houses were sold at around 33- 50% of their market value .
The homeless situation as you well know is a social issue , rather than a financial one . Abusive parent , unruly children etc . But that’s another topic for another thread .
I don’t think she sold the houses personally. It gave Many people, who couldn’t buy privately the opportunity to get in the property ladder . I think that policy won her the election.
As for the utility sell off . It was given to the public as shares . Working class people made a mint after selling them .
Margaret Thatcher .
