This poor girl is a product of her upbringing. She has had a lot of bad experiences but seems to be a good mother to her two young boys. She doesn't deserve to have the threat of an early and painful death hanging over her.
It's not pleasant having to launder a handerchief sometimes - especially in the cold season. Or possibly because men get so many given as Christmas presents when people can't think what to give them?
I agree, though I'm ashamed to say I know very little Greek after 3 years! There is a tendency in Cyprus for the Brits to gather in their own little areas. They then proceed to complain that things aren't run the same way as in the UK. Er...........no..........that's because they aren't in the Uk and why move to another country if you want it to be like the UK.
Everything has a down side - we have had water rationing since last April because there is practically no water left in the dams. They were even bringing water in by tanker from Greece because the last government didn't build the desalination plants needed. Now when it rains I'm outside with an umbrella in one hand and a sweeping brush in the other giving the outside a good clean because we're not allowed to use hosepipes now.
Have you actually met her or is this an on-line relationship? Some women like the buzz of getting mail, phone calls etc. but don't want the highs and lows of a proper relationship. If she doesn't want to be with you she doesn't love you.
Unfortunately it's been warm and sunny here today. I say unfortunately because we've had water rationing since last April and we desperately need at least a months worth of rain just to get some water in the dams. We had torrential rain on Saturday for a short while and I was outside, umbrella in one hand and broom in the other sweeping the drive and patio because we're not allowed to use hose pipes now. The locals think I'm mad.
Since a lot of the economy here benefited from development, now that the buyers from the UK have more or less dried up we are seeing the effects now. Some developers have gone bankrupt and it has had a knock-on effect with estate agents who are also closing down. Due to the relatively high cost of travel to get here, we are losing tourists which in turn is less income for the restaurants, shops, car-hire. We have also started to see ex-pats returning to England because their pensions have lost up to 30% against the Euro/ sterling and they are finding it too expensive to live here.
Well, I have just given up for the third time trying to learn Greek. Perhaps it's my age but I could spend hours learning something and the next day had forgotten most of it. Most people speak English here and even when you address them in Greek, they will reply in English. Also they speak a different version of Greek here, a sort of regional accent which has more slang words. I'll get there eventually, but I'm finding it hard!
No, I keep up with me. As long as I am happy with my own behaviour and standards then life is good for me. Would be better if I had a partner but that may never happen so I appreciate what I have.
There is a whole generation of children growing up without a male role model and subsequently are turning to gangs to promote a sense of family. A lot of women use their children as pawns to get back at their ex's without taking into consideration that the children do want to see their fathers. On the whole, I think fathers get a raw deal and the children's best interests should be the issue and not trying to score points with your ex partner.
If he is so hard-working perhaps he can raise a loan to get the amount he needs. You are obviously worried about the circumstances so go with your instincts. If something doesn't sound right, it usually isn't.
Are there any volunteer groups in your area, or charities which need helpers? Volunteer your services and you will find it's good to help others who are worse off than yourself.
I'm a fairly recent member, only the last 3 months. I don't know anyone and no-one knows me but this is an internet site and by it's very nature is impersonal and transient. People join for different reasons. It is easy to strike up friendships with other forum members but at the end of the day, it's not the same as a normal relationship and is a case of out of sight out of mind in most cases.
I hope everyone on here has a good Christmas and New Year, I am one of the lucky ones who are not alone this holiday but I am nevertheless wishing Santa would pop something a bit bigger in my stocking - George Clooney would do for a start.
All I can say is that I've always replied, even if it's just to say thanks for the thought. If they've taken the time to send one, doesn't take long to say thanks.
I think men tend to get a raw deal when it comes to divorce. The children should be first priority but some women use their children as pawns to get back at their ex.
Is there a way to know who is trying to IM you before you agree to participate? Just had one but when I went into it it was from a country I had blocked in my settings. I'm getting confused. Yes, I know it's an age thing.I'm new to all this!
I tried to log on again and again comes up with my profile is hidden and I have to unhide it. Anyone else getting this message? Will this message come up every time now?
Yes, mine is odd too. Came up on my home page and it said my profile was hidden, although I haven't changed any settings. Thought I'd logged into wrong part of site.
Didn't think the last one could get any worse but apparently he can. Sparrow64 - think you're on the wrong site. You need the desperate tarts who think you're funny site.
As I know personally, we don't always have a flattering photo to put on this site. I don't know how you can decide a persons' hygiene just by a photo, I don't judge people, male or female, by appearance alone, I'd have to meet them first. It seems rather a sweeping statement, there seems to be thousands of men here, they can't all be going to the dogs surely? '
RE: hi
I hope you're not referring to all the women on here as bimbos, it's not a very flattering term.
