What is Pain ? ? ?

We all know pain
it comes in many forms
there is good pain
that leads to nice results
then there are the bad pains
that can rip us apart
no matter which one experienced
one sure thing pain is always pain
nicer pains are things that bring
a good result, a nice outcome
the momentary pain of a virgin
usually then followed by pleasure
the hard searing labour of child birth
the delight and joy of holding your baby
the minor pains like a scraped knee
the sting of a bee, scratch of a rose
then there are the really bad pains
the terrible pain of rape and its aftermath
the feeling of being dirty where there's no blame
no shame just something carried on forever
the pain of being shot or stabbed even killed
the surgery to save a life the stitches pulling
the grief and pain of losing a loved one
so many different pains to face
each one needs to be handled differently
what ever pain you suffer remember this
you do not need to face it alone

this time of year

my heart is breaking
shattering in pieces
another year alone
how can I bear to go on
to struggle through another year
this time of year hurts so much
as your birthday draws near
eight days older I was to you
once they flew pass
now each is like a year
filled with such pain
the emptiness too much
my soul split in two
times like this
I wish it had been me
how can I go on?
how can I live
in a world without you
such pain is too much
for my soul to bear
my grief is unending
no colours any more
birds I cant hear sing
just a lake of tears
so vast and unending

April Fool's Day

Am I a fool or just a clown
on this the day of fools
where on the list am I?
If I give you a kiss
will it make me a queen
in your heart to rule
or just a love struck fool?
I leave you my peers to decide

fool or jester which am I?

Easter

the bonnet enjoying its sonnet
says to the hard boiled egg
your colours are so pretty
shame they won't last the day
the egg replies I will win the race
oh no you won't say the bunny
I am the fastest by far
tis only my dust you will see

Happy Easter All

The White Tiger

Embedded image from another site

He slinks through the forest
nary a leaf stirring in his wake
a powerful cat of great grace
hunted by man for his fur and teeth
his is a solitary life which puts
his future at risk in the wilds
only by mating with another white
will he produce white cubs
he is a stealth hunter
he sneaks up on his prey
quickly snapping its neck
he pulls it into cover
and eats at his leisure
his haunting blue eyes blazing
as he hears a noise nearby
silently he pads of to investigate
no other male will he tolerate
this time its just a female
their territories overlap
once they would have lived far apart
now forced into close contact by man
their habitat now vastly shrunk
no wild sighting have been confirmed
for over 50 years

Exmoor Stream (for fellsman)

I climbed to find your source
up the slippery slopes of shale
getting prickled by the gorse
I looked back over the dale

following your trickle down
as you widen and flow
far below I see a town
your waters now grow

the trickle now a stream
waters gush over the rocks
becoming now a scream
as you pass the gamecocks

ever widening as you go
dancing as down you bounce
a rabbit peeks out of its burrow
as you skip and flounce

onwards to the valley
there to join the river
slowing as you pass the abbey
where boats lay at anchor

In A Spin

Emotions churning
neither on head nor tail
flitting like a butterfly
back and forth
changing in a blink
no constancy at all
can't settle nohow
everything in a spin
not knowing which is which
am I up or facing down
faster and faster
spinning out of control
enjoying each crazy second
long may they last
such magical sensations
can you yet guess I ask?
what it is that ails me
I will tell you right now
its the miracle of being
head over heels
crazily in love

My Vision (smmerwind's challenge)

My Vision

A world full of beauty
where sparkling streams
flow into crystal clear waters

the air so clear
you can see for miles
bright blue its hue

radiant flowers everywhere
sweet, sweet scent
flowing in the breeze

birds singing in delight
deer frolic in verdant valleys
everything so full of life

at last we have learnt
cleaned up our act
brought love and peace

to our beautiful world
now it shimmers and gleams
full of vibrant light

Seasons

each time a new season arrives
I see again with eyes afresh
which one do I love best?
spring? summer? autumn? winter?

there's only one answer
I love them all anew
so fresh is each at start
then slowly they fade away

the wonders of spring
the promise of new life
each time my heart gladdens
opens wide to embrace

but then summer follows
such beauty everywhere
masses of colourful flowers
matched by beauteous butterflies

fast on heels comes autumn
the Reds, Browns and Golds
harvests of all good things
the beauty of the bare trees

last but not least
winter's icy fingers
hoar frost's on the trees
pure unblemished snow

How can one choose
so lets toast each one
for the beauty they bring
no contest no choice to make

Break of Dawn

I stir sleepily stretching awake
an hour or so before dawn
tossing back the covers
I get to my feet

ablutions done
I call the dogs
we all pile into my car
drive off in the predawn

heading for a great valley
tucked sleepily in the woods
stream trickling through
where we see deer drinking

the sky is lightening
shadows recede as moonlight
slowly fades and the sun
starts showing a sleepy face

then bright rays shoot out
each one more dazzling
as the sun climbs up
coating all in sunshine

a wondrous glorious sight
as it bathes the valley
in warm tender hues
and its heat floods out

I enjoy the first light
as my dogs scurry around
setting up pheasants
with loud squawks

in the distance
two hares box each other
then they are off in
large circles then boxing

fighting, sparring
for the right to mate
the red stag roars
soon they will disappear

as people come here
children will run about
shouting, dipping their
feet in the stream

smoke lazily curling from
the bar-be-que's charcoal
they have missed the
secrets of the dawn

Wheel of Time

Yesterday's now long gone
never can return
just a brief passing moment
in the relentless march of time

today we live, laugh and love
share precious moments
all far too brief
while the wheel of time turns

what could tomorrow bring?
if the veil was lifted?
would we be any wiser
could things have been altered

alas its not for us to know
we have our yesterdays
with all the mistakes made
today we live with what was done

Heavy Heart

My heart bleeds today with sorrow
this day now dark as night
yes you may ask me why
I tell you all this

we are poets one and all
so don't let envy cloud
what should be a perfect place
open your minds and hearts

just read the beauty of the words
here there should be no strife
as it stifles and smothers all
let peace reign here for all

listen only to the beauty
take inspiration and joy
from every written word
make here a serene place

poetry has no place for discord
it sours and poisons our souls
lets leave the outside world
and fill here with pure love
