Friends That Day

Siting round the table there
Friends I didn’t know I have
Truly blessed beyond compare
With all Love that I have

Wistful emotions did swirl around
To fill my soul with love of them all
Why do I have them hanging around
Wait is that a tear that dares fall

As my heart begins to swell
Tears flow quickly from my eye
Why they leak I cannot tell
And make the moment pass me by.

Oh it must linger past this day
Please don’t let it fade away
For if it does what would I say
About those friends I found that day

My eyes were filled with joy awhile
Because of friends so wonderful
My heart filled with love did smile
Contented, grateful it was full.

I’m sad to say the night has come
It’s time for us to part again
Until another day does come
For us to gather once again.

About this poem:
Last week I organized an outing inviting three of my new friends to gather on Saturday. By the time The group was to get together No three but eight people had gathered at my invitation. So I purchased the extra tickets and off I went. When I walked in and saw all their faces I suddenly filled with such great emotion my eyes filled with tears. A two to three hour get together grew into and eight hour gathering. Here is the result of that event.

Round and Round

The world keeps spinning round and round
Always moving never stopping
Dancing to the universal sound
Through our galaxy we are sailing

Stars and star ships dreams do make
Wondrous adventures for our minds
As we gaze upon the stars and remake
Dreams from memories of mankind

Stars are dancing night on night
Blinking, winking keeping time
While we marvel at this sight
With no thoughts of the end of time

Or of this dance we dance from birth
Again and again since time began
Upon this stage that we call earth
Playing our part in a well-made plan

This dance we do again each day
Danced by mankind through the ages
Never changes it's the same each day
Taught to all by strange mages

As new dancers take their turn
And learn life's steps anew each day
Often graceful often clumsy yet they learn
Those new steps to their own play

The world keeps spinning round and round
Always changing never stopping
Dancing to a brand new sound
Through the ages, ever playing

Empathy

When you read the words I write
Do you think they're of my life
Or do you find they are just right
For what you felt in times of strife

Some people often say
Of the words I write each day
Words to try to comfort me
When the words were not of me

I write the words you read
About the world I do concede
Not the stories of just me
The words are yours for you to see

Do they speak to your painful past
Awakening memories not meant to last
Or do you think that they are mine
And you need to tell it will be fine

Read my words with open mind
And like a song that does remind
You of all those days gone by
All I ask of you is try

If my words do make you laugh or cry
I have done my job as I did try
To tell a tale that spoke to you
As only your close memories do

I often get sage advice
Trying to comfort me once or twice
I sigh because I do know
They are speaking to themselves I know

I will not stop writing that’s a deal
For I will put words for you to feel
Your joy or pain from yesteryear
Along with words that I hold dear

Lost

I remember our first date
We met at winters end
We enjoyed a meal and talked till late
Like we were long lost friends

We met again another day
To race around the track so fast
And talked away another day
We told of secrets from our past

Days then weeks quickly passed
You opened doors long time locked
Showing me how to live at last
Releasing all the love I’d blocked

Quickly lovers we did become
Sharing laughter as love grew.
Helping us to overcome
Our burdens just as lovers do

Standing tall we stood our ground
Against all odds we did prevail
We helped each other to rebound
Always there we could not fail

Time goes by it doesn’t wait
Your friends embraced me too
They shared their love they didn’t wait
They filled my heart because of you

We grew our love that season well
You taught this fledgling how to fly
To spread my wings and break the spell
That bound my heart I knew not why.

I soared among the clouds up high
With broken spell by your side
When it was time to leave the sky
I landed gently by your side

Oh so quickly time moves on
We watched as Autumn came
Bringing changes with the dawn
We tried to keep our love the same

Life and love always changing
We didn’t know we were changing
Or that our love was ever changing
Keeping time with seasons changing

All our burdens weighed us down
Turn by turn we lost our way
We lost our footing, falling down
Until we could no longer stay

You yearned for home
I heard you say
I sought a place of my own
Ever searching for my way

That day arrived I left your side
It wasn’t long you left for home
I cried for days I must confide
I had to let you go back home

You flew away some time ago
I watched you stretch your wings and fly
I did wait for you, you couldn't know
Soon all I saw was grey sky

No longer by my side I often find you
Drifting on the pathways of my mind
Pausing just enough for me to view
Fond memories on rewind

You're always there on my mind
Just beyond my reach just looking back
Yet as I reach with arms entwined
The path dissolves it was an old track

Mistakes we make along the way
Make us who we are today
I hope we meet again someday
Perhaps by then I'll have found my way

About this poem:
This was extremely difficult to write. I wrote this because I often think of my last girlfriend and how the relationship evolved and ended. I made a grave mistake ending the relationship, because I failed to communicate with her about how I felt. It is now too late.

Lovers Lament

Since that day I walked away
You have lingered on my mind
I often wonder why I cannot say
The words to ease my mind

Our time is over that I know
And it’s time for moving on
I wish I had somewhere to go
Someone to lean upon

I look around for someone kind
To help forget the pain and troubles too
And the leave memories of you behind
So I can live my life anew

Will those memories ever fade?
And let me be apart from you
Or will they like a well-made blade
Cut my broken heart in two

I try and try and try once more
To shed the guilt weighing on my heart
Knowing it was me who tore
Into pieces both of our hearts

Now I am here forever more
And you have moved so far away
Never will I hear your voice once more
Whisper in my ear each day

The words that lovers often speak
Floating gentle on my mind
With every gentle kiss they speak
Words of love to fill my heart and mind.

About this poem:
Sitting alone I often think of people who have given up love so their partner could pursue their carrier. Or just let them go to move where their heart takes them. This is about those people who stayed behind and sacrificed their love so someone else could be happy.

The Dreams

It’s time to lay my head upon the pillow
Fearful of the dreams that will follow
Haunting me of times long past
Of memories of youth and love that did not last

Floating on the web of ancient dreams
Riding threads of hope and love it seems
Until I come upon the place that holds
Memories and fears waiting to unfold

I see you searching in a patch of distant mist
For something lost or something missed
I turn my head to hide my tears
Falling, failing through past years

I hear a silent whisper searching for my ear
Why did you leave me all alone my dear
I feel a hand wipe the tears upon my face
And I remember your fond embrace

With my heart in pieces I held you tight
I had to go I told you true that dark night
And through your tears you spoke to me
Come and please make love with me

With our hearts aflame with passion and desire
The stars in the sky like a thousand fires
We shared our young love so sure
Our youthful love so fierce and pure

Sweating, burning with desire waking to face another day
Leaking tears another day
Reminding me of the dreams last night
My heart in pieces is this my plight

It’s time again to lay my head upon the pillow
Fearful of the dreams that will follow
Haunting me of times long past
With memories of youth and love that did not last

The Call

When you called the other day
I was glad to see your face
We talked about the coming day
As I wore my best brave face

Hiding the pain of my heart
Words blurring as you spoke
Knowing we’re so far apart
Mourning the love you did invoke

I told the story of my sorrow
You listened as you always do
Not telling you of my sorrow
I saw the hurt in your heart too

Mistakes I made that broke our hearts
Leaving not speaking of my fears
Without a word I did part
Holding back the flow of tears

Is it too late, the pain too great
To be the lovers we once were
Tearing down this wall of late
Built to guard us from where we were

Can I ever tell you true
The love that I have for you?
Or must I always say to you
Words to hide my love for you?

Love Is

Love changes every day
Growing, fading day by day
Ever changing for the need
To fulfill all of our needs

Guiding us from the day we’re born
Bringing joy and also hearts oft torn
Always searching to fill the void
Left when the seed of love was born

Love fills us with comfort and desire
As we sit upon our souls eternal pyre
Leading us towards loves desperate fire
Fanning the flames of s*xual desire

Love has no barriers it must cross
Nor does it care of profit or loss
While turning our life of despair
To a life where we must care

Love isn’t all those things we fear
Love isn’t all those thing held dear
Love isn’t all those things of desire
Love just is.

ONE

I wonder what the world would be
If you were never there.
I wonder what the world would be
If everybody cared

Your love has no boundaries, nor governed by rules.
It flows about freely despite all those fools
Listen you mortals who think you’re so cool.
Ever living your life to fool other fools

Trying to prove you are better by far
Than those, who you cast to the side
As you drive about in your new car,
Hoping they’ll find a new place to hide

You keep trying to fool all those that you meet.
Looking to find what it is that you need
Searching, not knowing it’s right at your feet
Waiting to end your longing and greed

Yet those who endure cruel lessons of life
Knowing, they are no better than you,
They’ve already found the meaning to life
They bend and give love so freely to you
Ere all of their days are full of life's strife

Each day you share your kindness and grace
Giving your love, with no conditions at all.
Making the world a much brighter place
Providing a safe place breaking our fall.

Though we are just specks laced upon time
Your light breaks the darkness that’s all around.
Providing the courage to continue the climb
Enriching our life because you’re around

I wonder what the world would be
If you were never there.
I wonder what the world would be
If everyone cared.

We are Children Born Today

We are children born today
Growing wiser every day
We are parents of the morrow
Living life without the sorrow

Growing, living, learning, laughing
Every day a new beginning
Where we find our many lovers
Till we meet our one true lover

Now we’re parents of the future
With the children we must nurture
To become their dreams desire
Changing, rising from the fire

Now we’re older and much wiser
Knowing she will soon desire
The path of peril and adventure
Falling, climbing to her future

Waiting for our mortal ending
We will see a new beginning
Growing weaker day by day
A boy will mark a brand new way

Now here comes our darkest day
Marking clear our final day
Have we found the hidden key
To learn at last life’s mystery.

What If

I saw her there all alone
Talking on her phone
To whom I know not who
As I wondered what to do

Sitting waiting for a glance
As I waited for the chance
For her to end the call
So I might climb the wall

To start the talk to open the way
To say the words I needed to say
To close the void between two strangers
That might start a new adventure

Watching, waiting for my chance
For her to escape the trance
That held her tight
While I waited long that night

Then the call did come for me to go
And board my flight I had to go
I left her behind no choice of mine
So forever will I pine

Now here I am still all alone
Oh if she had just hung up the phone
I often wonder what could have been
And if she would have ever seen

Me by her waiting as she talked
As I patiently watched and walked
Around and around her as she talked
And talked and talked

Moving On

Moving On

Lifetimes start anew each new day
Although our season ended yesterday
Friendships found will never end
And you will always be my friend

Time has come to be on our way
I've known this from the very first day
We live this life day by day
Wandering along day by day.

Moving, bending to seasons changing
We must surf the waves of changes
Growing, failing forever learning
Always searching, always yearning

Stumbling on lessons yet to learn
Choosing the path at each new turn
I wonder if you see your call
It's not what you might think at all

Do you see where you belong?
Where you will sing your life’s song.
It’s beside those you love
It’s beside those of your blood

This is where you belong
So you can sing your life’s song
Will you think of me from time to time?
Or will memories fade over time?

About this poem:
A lady I dated for about a year and a half Is moving away. She was the first lady I dated after the break up of my abusive marriage. She showed me how to love again and what love was supposed to be. Sadly i had to leave the relationship but we remain friends. I presented this to her before she left.
