Feeling more confident and happier as I grow older...

I meant I used to spend so much time here, flirting and having fun but nowadays I find myself feeling happier planting flowers and finding ways to graft and grow roses in my spare time. Yeah and baking and learning new recipes.

Happy with work and people around me, what else can I ask for? Though my interest in dating has dropped, it's still there, still communicating. I guess everything has it's perfect time.

Just got off from two teams meeting and trying not to think of work for an hour or so and that's what this place is all about for me - fun and relaxing.thumbs up

and some good old music to livin' it up

When trust is lost...and the illness associated with it

To lose one's trust is pretty tough ..in my opinion.

What I mean by that is....I don't trust somebody unless they give me a reason not to trust them.

So, my default mindset toward trust with most people is usually of neutral natural. I don't completely trust them, but I don't completely distrust them.

Normal life interactions usually are construed under these circumstances...meaning, we live day to day life and function quite well with this neutral level of trust. We don't need to assess somebody on a deep level to determine their trustworthiness in order to interact with them on a casual level.

Of course, if somebody sticks a gun in your face and robs you, yes...you should not trust them....and of course, you want to avoid them. Thankfully, I have never had this happen to me ever...and thankfully this does not happen very often.

And of course, before you invite somebody into your house, you should have done a little deeper level assessment of how trustworthy they are. Naturally, if this person is going to be living in your household for even a longer time, you should even be that much more certain of their credibility/trustworthiness.

So, we are starting to explore the nature of trust here.

Now, I was in a relationship where she lost my trust. This loss of trust is the sole reason why I called off our 13 year relationship. 13 years is a long time and a lot of people were effected...not only us as individuals...but her family, my family...and our friends...and many others....because of a loss of trust.

But the day I called off our relationship...I told her "I no longer trust you, and that is not fair for you or fair for me."

What did I mean by that? What I meant by that is that she could have taken 2 minutes longer to go get the mail and suspicion could have arose. Of course this is an extreme example, but none the less, a legitimate example.

This blog has nothing to do about me and my past relationship. That was just an example. This is about trust, the loss of it, and the illness associated with it.

Loss of trust = the illness of suspicion.

What about when a population loses trust in its Gov?

Nietzsche says, when a country loses the trust of its people, that country no longer exist.

The illness of suspicion will breed conspiracy...then maybe wrongful beliefs...then...how ill can things get..

In other words, is there anything a country can do to reclaim trust...or anything anyone can do to reclaim it?

How will SA be affected if a nuclear war broke out in Europe?

This realistic, facts-based simulation is divided into 3 stages: Nuclear War, Nuclear Fallout and Nuclear Winter. Watch this video to find out what will happen to the world during each of those stages.

Whats more is,
South African internet speeds have suddenly dipped following a WACS (West African Cable System) and SAT-3 (South Atlantic 3) cable breakage.

The damage was first reported on Sunday evening when users started complaining about slow and sluggish internet speeds. Network status reports confirmed that on Sunday morning, the SAT-3 cable lost connectivity and the WACS followed soon after.

Further investigation on the breakage confirmed that the damage was caused by a rock fall in the Congo Canyon – a massive submarine canyon found off the coast of Congo. It is the largest undersea canyon in the world.

As a result of the breakage, a cable repair ship known as the Léon Thévenin was sent out to begin repairs. According to Marine Vessel Traffic, the ship is currently docked at Mombasa, Kenya and is currently listed as “restricted maneuverability”. (< no clue what that means)

Trump's Trial

"In former president Donald Trump's third criminal indictment - the one recently issued by a District of Columbia grand jury for Trump's attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election - he's charged with a conspiracy to deprive the American voters of their voting rights. Accordingly, the American people are the victims of that particular crime.

The federal law - specifically, the Crime Victims' Rights Act, 18 US Code section 3771 - provides that crime victims have a right "not to be excluded" from the trial. If the trial is not televised, the victims of Trump's crimes WILL BE EXCLUDED FREOM THE TRIAL in violation of federal law."

I think there will be consequences of the trial being televised, or not being televised.

Life in rural Russia, the reality

We have all seen those videos on YT and Telegram insisting life in Russia is great after the sanctions and the sanctions and de-valuation of the Ruble have changed nothing.Videos of actors walking through shopping malls that seem to mostly be full of shoppers and only a few people carrying goods they have brought. We are told there are very few unemployed people in Russia and we are shown videos of well stocked supermarkets in Saint Petersburg and Moscow, and if you point out in the comments that while the videos do show stocked shelves the shoppers at the check out have very few items (not meat or fish) in their carts immediately some Russian (troll) will write that is because the market is surrounded by high rise buildings and Russians see no need to buy lots of food for their refrigerators and cabinets with the stores being so close and any impression that those shoppers have no money for the expensive food items is totally false. We should believe Russians love having to go to the supermarket every day to buy 2 or 3 potatoes and a carrot, rather than just by a 2 kilo bag of potatoes and a bunch of carrots so they don't have to come back every day.

Yes, in Moscow and Saint Petersburg there are lots of jobs. But that is just two cities of many cities and towns. What about the towns where the factory closed for lack of supplies and the town has been abandoned by governement? There are hundreds of such towns in Russia. Here is a video a brave person made about what it like for residents in one of those towns this week.

The AMAZON addiction...

About 2 years ago, if I needed something not found in stores but available on Amazon, I would have a friend or relative with a Prime account purchase it and drop ship to my address. I would settle the payment when we got together.
That was then and this is now...
I opened an Amazon Prime account and all sorts of things appear at my doorstep. Many of these purchases are less than buying locally or online with other vendors.
Polo shirts... for example, I ordered a dozen different colors this year and shopping for another round to replace some older ones.
Hand tools, electronics, rivet gun, soldering gun, car cover, network switch and cables, model helicopter parts and the list goes on.

I felt guilty returning the FitBit activity tracking watch, but when I went to the distribution center, the guy in front of me had a shopping cart FULL of items to be returned. and... they took them all back!
I guess his Amazon addiction is greater than mine!

Rolling Coal...

Rolling coal is a new term for me. If you don't know, it's when a diesel pickup exhaust is modified, usually to remove the carbon filter so it emits clouds of thick black smoke. The truck driver can use it to intimidate or anger other cars with the smoke, especially if the billowing cloud obstructs their view.
They get in front or along side the person they want to annoy, smash down on the gas pedal and create the cloud as they accelerate past the other car.

Tesla drivers often 'feel the pain' of rolling coal trucks that have some kind of vendetta against electric vehicles.

In the link I originally saw, the pickup truck accidentally crashed into the barrier, doing serious damage to his vehicle.

The question was asked if it's illegal and the answer is yes, for several reasons.
Modified exhaust and EPA regulations. Intentionally modified vehicle for the purpose of harassment to other drivers.

Some law stuff and explanation:

We are The Xennials

We were born in the 40's-50's-60's.
We grew up in the 50-60-70's.
We studied in the 60-70-80's.
We were dating in the 60's-70-80-90's.
We got married and discovered the world in the 60-70-80-90's.
We venture into the 80-90.
We stabilized in the 2000s.
We got wiser in the 2010s.
And we are going firmly through and beyond 2020.

Turns out we've lived through EIGHT different decades...
TWO different centuries...
TWO different millennia...

We have gone from the telephone with an operator for long-distance calls to video calls to anywhere in the world,
We have gone from slides to YouTube, from vinyl records to online music, from handwritten letters to email and Whatsapp."
From live programs on the radio, to black and white TV, and then to HD TV.
We went to the Video store and now we watch Netflix.
We got to know the first computers, punch cards, diskettes and now we have gigabytes and megabytes in hand on our cell phones or IPad.
We wore shorts throughout our childhood and then long pants, oxfords, Bermuda shorts, etc.
We dodged infantile paralysis, meningitis, polio, H1N1 flu and now Sars COV-19.
We rode skates, tricycles, invented cars, bicycles, mopeds, gasoline or diesel cars and now we ride hybrids or 100% electric.
Yes, we've been through a lot but what a great life we've had!
They could describe us as “exennials”; people who have had an analog childhood and a digital adulthood.

We have “Seen-It-All”!
Our generation has literally lived through and witnessed more than any other in every dimension of life.
It is our generation that has literally adapted to “CHANGE”.
A big round of applause to all the members of a very special generation.

When you look...it's already six in the afternoon; when you look...it's already Friday; when one looks...the month is over,
When one looks...the year is over; when one looks...50, 60 and 70 years have passed!
When you look...we no longer know where our friends have gone.
When you look...we maybe lost the love of our life and now, it's too late to go back.

SO…
Do not stop doing something you like due to lack of time.
Do not stop having someone by your side. Your children will soon not be yours and you will have to do something with that remaining time, where the only thing that we are going to miss will be the space that can only be enjoyed with the usual friends.
The time , which unfortunately, never returns...

*The day is today!* Carpe Diem ! * (Seize the day!)

*WE ARE NO LONGER AT AN AGE TO POSTPONE ANYTHING.*
