LouLou,

Yes, the cost of living, the cost of everything has gone up and it keeps on going up. Housing is through the roof. Groceries are 3 times higher than a year ago. One basically has to be a millionaire these days. And even Millionaire status is not as great of a thing as it once was.

I know of younger people who tell me they are asking for raises at their jobs or looking for better paying jobs, even though some are making 25 dollars, 35 and more.

One financial expert said last year that a person would have to make at least $50 an hour to make ends meet in most areas.

Just thought I'd add my two cents here. Err, 20 cents with inflation. doh
I am better off as a home owner...but barely...renting is impossible and food expenses are unreal!!

What to do!!
People voted for it so, the only thing to blame is those who put others in power to control the money flow.

The other option is change standards of living. Trade house condo or apt to live in a cardboard box in the woods, give up the vehicle and peddle a bike and panhandle from others in parking lots. Get off the grid so to speak. Sell flowers and tell everyone that rainbows are cool and spend your money on sex changes. rolling on the floor laughing professor
Or...find solutions to said problems and not blame others when money is tight...idea

It's more than interest rates...
I bought a 'cheap' condo 3 years ago.
The HOA is more than my mortgage.
Prices for apartments have doubled in that time and it sounds like a great investment, but if I sold... where am I going to go when all the condos around have doubled in price!
And and my dog is expensive. He insists on eating only the best hamburgers that cost 10 to 15 dollars, while I eat meatballs and spaghetti from a can. doh
I have the same problem...sigh

Daphne and Dax love roast chicken...chicken

laugh

What can ya do...eat from a can...wine
The costs of everything is starting to bite everywhere, i often chat with friends about how and what they would cut back in their lives..
I asked some friends how high will they let the price of fuel go up before they sell their car and buy a scooter, most of my friends said $5 a liter of petrol would be their limit for change..
I think most of us have cut down on recreational activities or other expenses that are deemed extra...but certainly buying a scooter to replace a car/truck is another way to go...
I am fortunate that I live in the city where transit is available...
Food costs have risen so much now that the government is stepping in to provide extra money for people and their families...
We all gonna be selling dope before this is all over laugh

Ya...not a bad idea...idea
Cost of living … Not good anywhere …

who knew … grandma liked baking cookies for a bizarre and now she stays home because she’s bizarrely baked eating cookies??

laugh
I know many people who have moved from my area because of the high rent...COVID made my area explode with residents fleeing from their states...Making rent and the price of homes skyrocket....

It is leveling off a bit now though.....
laugh

Grandma's got it going on...wine

Where I live...the rent or mortgage affordability is a growing concern...many people live outside the city to reduce living expenses...nothing new for people here but the food prices have skyrocketed...COVID did not help the situation...hopefully it will get back to normal or close to it...

And here on East coast:

Thanks for the video clip...

There are people living in their RVs and camping out...not just a summer activity anymore...

I have to admit...buying an RV and touring the country including the US and South Americas sounds like a great idea...but not ideal for a family or an employed person...

Affording a place to call home...a growing concern for many...not just the unemployed anymore...

sigh
Around here...
Prices for eggs are coming back down.
Seasonal fruits are also returning to normal prices.

Some paper products have jumped up 50%
I am assuming here in Canada...prices could drop if it is reflecting the US trend...hopeful anyways...wine
I'll be fleeing to there soon to help the local economy and take up the slack from others....laugh
I'm sure there is some connection, maybe the banks are feeling a loss in business. I'm receiving 10 times more credit card offers than usual. All have some cash bonus to sign with them.
Ya...I am getting the same here...offers of credit with cash back etc...I just want my interest rates on my mortgage to drop...lol... laugh
The Bank of Canada is not very popular right now...their decision to hike the interest rates is affecting many...
Even with all that's making the population despondent, there is much to be thankful for. Like the guy that complained that his shoes were worn through instead of being thankful that he still had two feet. wine
I see your point...but I still would like my mortgage interest to drop...laugh

The thing I can be grateful for...my health and my new pets...Daphne and Dax...2 black cats with attitude...

If you are going to visit the north part of my county...use mosquito repellent....

Seven cases of malaria in the last few weeks....Malaria carrying mosquitoes have been found there.
Sign of climate change?...

There are now 7 cases that have been diagnosed....

I was just giving him the heads up....in case he did not know...

The county was reluctant in telling the exact area...but word of mouth..soon let the public know it is in a mile radius of two neighborhoods...
Malaria can be treated so it would be vital to have this information...fortunately the disease is not spread to others by contact...but it can be deadly...

wow
Hello - Hmmm west coast - gulf region - Sarasota County? Thanks for the heads up – heeded the warning! But have a condo on the east coast. I’m surprised with the malaria mentioned. Heard there’s still a rain deficit in some parts? Also, heard elect. rates were going up in FL? I know it beats what I’m paying now by 3-4 times where I’m at currently. I worked at L3 Harris eons ago and lived in a town not far away.

It’s so dam expensive, again, everywhere … trust me with property taxes – tax on this … tax on that and live in a tax-free state - not Fl. yet? At least I know the cost of elect. in comparison.

I’ll be sporadic at best on C.S. the next couple of months … lol. Have fun! thumbs up
