New Zealand to ban smoking

for anyone born after 2008.

New Zealand to ban all young people from ever buying cigarettes
By Will Feuer
New Zealand on Thursday announced plans to ban anyone born after 2008 from ever being able to buy cigarettes or other tobacco products in the country as part of a broader effort to completely phase out smoking in the island nation by 2025.

The proposed legislation, which is expected to become law next year, will gradually raise the smoking age over decades until it covers the entire population.

Democrats In Full Panic Mode: They Are Stuck With Two Losers And A Split Party With No Way Out

I'm wavering, which is unusual for me. Usually I'm pretty decisive on political issues.

I think there is a significant chance that if Sanders is the Democrat's nominee, not only will they lose big to Trump, but they will lose big on the downballot as well.

I think that if Biden is their candidate they will lose big to Trump, but maybe not as big on the downballot.

However, here's the hard part.

I think there is a significant chance of a catastrophic split in the Democrat party regardless of which one of them wins. Part of it depends on HOW they win. If, for example, the Democrats again rig their primary against Sanders (and they already have tried, but he's too popular so they would need to make the fix stronger), like they did in 2016, then I think a large portion of their electorate will be infuriated and either stay home on election day or maybe even some will vote for Trump. They are still reeling from the Democrats 2016 scandal that stole the primary from Sanders.

I personally know a few brain damaged die hard Sanders supporters and they are STILL furious with the Democrats for rigging their last primary against him. These are not sane people. I think they would go ballistic if it happens again and may even go ballistic if it doesn't happen and Sanders is not their candidate even if the primary was legitimate.

It's not inconceivable that they may even leave the Democrats altogether and maybe form a third party which has the potential to literally end the Democrats as a major force in US politics.

It's inconceivable to me that the Democrats will let Sanders be their candidate. He has much more potential to permanently damage their party than Biden. Biden is just a loser, Sanders is a die-hard communist. Either one will lose to Trump, but Sanders can destroy their party forever.

So the Democrats are in a serious pickle. How can they stop Sanders without destroying their party? Should they even try increasing the risk that his supporters might rebel?

I don’t have any doubt that the DNC already decided they would rather lose the 2020 presidential election to Trump with Biden than have Sanders be their nominee. But how do they stop him without destroying their party? They have already put landmines all over the place, quietly changing the rules to make it much more difficult for him to win in various places. But he charges ahead in spite their corrupt election rigging.

If Sanders loses they are in trouble. If Sanders wins they are in trouble. Either way they lose in 2020. Right now I think they are thinking that if all they do is lose, and the party doesn’t implode they will be elated!

So why am I conflicted? Why am I wavering? Don’t we have them right where we want them?

I’m not so sure I want to see their party fall apart. I want them to lose in 2020, and I think there is a good chance they will. Call me naive, but I am not sure the destruction of their party is the best remedy for the country. I think the best remedy is for President Trump to serve a second term and to continue down the exact same pro American road he has been on in his first term. I still believe that even those afflicted with TDS, after 8 years of pro American policy will recover from their disease and help the rest of us move America in the right direction instead of trying to destroy it. I want to believe that it is curable.

Florida 'stand your ground' parking lot murderer finally charged with manslaughter

You may recall a blog from a couple of weeks which posted a video showing a man confronting the wife
and child of another man in the parking lot of a store.

The husband walked out of the store and pushed the other man once to the ground.
As the husband backed away from that man, the man sitting on the ground drew a pistol
and shot the husband in the chest. He died shortly after that incident.

Due to Florida's 'stand your ground' laws, the shooter was not immediately arrested,
and we weren't sure if he was ever going to be arrested due to the language of the law.

Well, today he was charged with manslaughter with a firearm and bail was set at $100,000.
If convicted, he can get up to 30 years in prison.

Some progress in the direction of justice.

A sad tale, indeed.

The sun was shining on the sea,
Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright--
And this was odd, because it was
The middle of the night.

The moon was shining sulkily,
Because she thought the sun
Had got no business to be there
After the day was done--
"It's very rude of him," she said,
"To come and spoil the fun!"

The sea was wet as wet could be,
The sands were dry as dry.
You could not see a cloud, because
No cloud was in the sky:
No birds were flying overhead--
There were no birds to fly.

The Walrus and the Carpenter
Were walking close at hand;
They wept like anything to see
Such quantities of sand:
"If this were only cleared away,"
They said, "it would be grand!"

"If seven maids with seven mops
Swept it for half a year.
Do you suppose," the Walrus said,
"That they could get it clear?"
"I doubt it," said the Carpenter,
And shed a bitter tear.

"O Oysters, come and walk with us!"
The Walrus did beseech.
"A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk,
Along the briny beach:
We cannot do with more than four,
To give a hand to each."

The eldest Oyster looked at him,
But never a word he said:
The eldest Oyster winked his eye,
And shook his heavy head--
Meaning to say he did not choose
To leave the oyster-bed.

But four young Oysters hurried up,
All eager for the treat:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
Their shoes were clean and neat--
And this was odd, because, you know,
They hadn't any feet.

Four other Oysters followed them,
And yet another four;
And thick and fast they came at last,
And more, and more, and more--
All hopping through the frothy waves,
And scrambling to the shore.

The Walrus and the Carpenter
Walked on a mile or so,
And then they rested on a rock
Conveniently low:
And all the little Oysters stood
And waited in a row.

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."

"But wait a bit," the Oysters cried,
"Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!"
"No hurry!" said the Carpenter.
They thanked him much for that.

"A loaf of bread," the Walrus said,
"Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed--
Now if you're ready, Oysters dear,
We can begin to feed."

"But not on us!" the Oysters cried,
Turning a little blue.
"After such kindness, that would be
A dismal thing to do!"
"The night is fine," the Walrus said.
"Do you admire the view?

"It was so kind of you to come!
And you are very nice!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"Cut us another slice:
I wish you were not quite so deaf--
I've had to ask you twice!"

"It seems a shame," the Walrus said,
"To play them such a trick,
After we've brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"The butter's spread too thick!"

"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.

"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one.

Cilantro Garlic...

Dinner tonight came by way of Pollo Tropical restaurant.
They are a Miami Based company with dozens of location around south Florida serving Cuban style citrus marinated grilled chicken.
One of my favorites is their Cilantro Garlic sauce with lime juice. I've tried to find this product in the grocery store like Olive Garden... but no luck. Since COVID-19, they removed the drink and condiment stands so you have to ask and they will give out their sauces in tiny cups (with lids) so no one has gets to use the pump dispenser like the old' days.
I did ask if it's available in larger quantities and the cashier said, it's made fresh in each store and a large containers can be purchased.
$4.00 for a cup that's about 14 ounces. Deal!

No... I'm not addicted. I need more time for that.

HAPPY YEAR OF THE FIRE ROOSTER, Y'ALL!

chicken

Today is Chinese New Year's Eve; tomorrow begins the Year Of The Fire Rooster!

It's claimed the next couple weeks, until the full moon, will be the time of the world's greatest migration of people as folks in China, and folks of Chinese descent all over the world, travel to be with friends & family.
There will be special foods. Millennia-old tradtions will be honored.

I'll not get into the specifics of the foods & traditions.
There'll be plenty of opportunity in the comments for folks to share first hand details of the holiday(s).

For now (the eve of the New Year) it's time to clean your space & rid yourself of the old.

Happy New Year, Y'all! party

3. Will smile and pass my happiness to at least one passerby.
4. Will not allow my day to be spoilt if I do not get an acknowledging smile.
5. Will be immune to negative comparisons, cynicism when in conversation with unfriendly friends and likely antagonist of the most of the DILs.
6. Will not complain about thyroid, or any other hormonal imbalances for my laziness.
7. Will concentrate on only one work at a time, cook like a chef tasting along the way, house cleaning like helpers room by room.
8. Will treat myself like a queen, sitting in the balcony, enjoying all that the nature has to offer sipping a cup of coffee, at least for an hour irrespective of how bad the day was.
9. Will count till 10 with all 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4ths in between when I am about to explode with anger.
