Cilantro Garlic...

Dinner tonight came by way of Pollo Tropical restaurant.
They are a Miami Based company with dozens of location around south Florida serving Cuban style citrus marinated grilled chicken.
One of my favorites is their Cilantro Garlic sauce with lime juice. I've tried to find this product in the grocery store like Olive Garden... but no luck. Since COVID-19, they removed the drink and condiment stands so you have to ask and they will give out their sauces in tiny cups (with lids) so no one has gets to use the pump dispenser like the old' days.
I did ask if it's available in larger quantities and the cashier said, it's made fresh in each store and a large containers can be purchased.
$4.00 for a cup that's about 14 ounces. Deal!

No... I'm not addicted. I need more time for that.

I haven't had cilantro in a long time. But, I don't remember being a fan of it.
Indeed, I sort of remember not liking it.

I do recall you mentioning that sauce (in the summer?).
Cilantro or Coriander - yet another weirdness of the Murikins! You can keep your Gallons and Fahrenheit and Cilantro, but why oh why? Look for the 15/64ths spanner and bounce it off your stubborn skulls!
Some people think Garlic and Cilantro ruin everything. I use them every day because they are known to be excellent to detox heavy metal.. wink
I love that place although it is considered fast food, it is healthier and DELISH. I love that sauce as well. I believe you can buy MOJO sauce that has your desired flavor. I love to marinate chicken or pork in Mojo. (Ethnic isle in grocery store)

Since my Asian daughter came into the family - I use a whole lot more ginger than I ever did before so I now also love ginger and garlic. This morning I made a ginger peach tea and it turned out very tasty.

I'm surprised your wife doesn't make your sauce from scratch. You can google any recipe.
Fay, the only negative thing about Pollo Tropical is the MSG in the Mojo marinade. I've got an 80% chance of dozing off right after a meal.
As far as the recipe... Jack, thanks!

I've researched and found totally different recipes online, all saying they were inspired by Pollo Tropical and all using different ingredients.

One has Cream cheese and milk versus sour cream.

The hold-back here is we don't have a food processor so I'm unable to get the same texture.

Side note: Fay, I've found that many Chinese avoid milk products.
Shame. On. You.

Make it yourself from fresh. The chances are that's not happening in a chain restaurant, whatever sales pitch they give you.
I would be a fan of that sauce (minus the lime juice)... And I would use it to dip my tequeños in it!... laugh

Holy cow Chat, that a felony not to have a food processor of some sort. You know a good blender can do the same work. I have the nutra bullet, the ninja, a big and two small dedicated food processors.

Come to Tampa and I'll give you one if not tell Santa to bring one to your wife.
Jac. It's a felony. I'm concerned now.

Fay, I've got a few days off at the end of the month.
Let's talk!
Melody, are tequeños cheese sticks?
jac, the felony is for not having a food processor.
Chat, I just read that cheese sticks are dipped in egg and then bread crumbs or something like that... Tequeños are not made that way... Here's a short video of how to make "Venezuelan Cheese Sticks" or "Tequeños"...

Chat my door is always open to you and your wife.
laugh

Prison food for you then, Chat.
Should I have added coconut?

You can also substitute with Greek yogurt if preferred.

Jack, I didn't consider that option. Unflavored Greek-style yogurt would be a better candidate than sour creme.

thumbs up
