HAPPY YEAR OF THE FIRE ROOSTER, Y'ALL!
Today is Chinese New Year's Eve; tomorrow begins the Year Of The Fire Rooster!
It's claimed the next couple weeks, until the full moon, will be the time of the world's greatest migration of people as folks in China, and folks of Chinese descent all over the world, travel to be with friends & family.
There will be special foods. Millennia-old tradtions will be honored.
I'll not get into the specifics of the foods & traditions.
There'll be plenty of opportunity in the comments for folks to share first hand details of the holiday(s).
For now (the eve of the New Year) it's time to clean your space & rid yourself of the old.
Happy New Year, Y'all!

The Chinese year symbols are also used in Chinese Astrology.
For example...
I, being born in a Year Of The Rabbit, am particularly compatible with folks born in the Years Of Dragon, Sheep, Dog & Pig.
Might be something to it. Wife was a Pig......er...she was born in a Year Of The Pig.
Compatible we were! ......
BTW - Y'all can find what your Chinese birth year is.
Search Chinese Zodiac.
I suppose compatibility had to come up sooner or later.
This is a singles site, after all!
Most interesting story, I just finished the origin of the 12 animals.
This could be your year, Molly!

You might want to look into more traditional ways to celebrate, Map.
I'm sure your rooster will appreciate it.

O.K. - Maybe that chicken cooked & served whole - including head & feet - might not work out a whole lot better for your rooster.
It's just not a good day to be a chicken.
Search folks born Nov. 22 - Dec. 21 in '41, '53, '65, '77 & '89 Linds.
There must be a bunch of 'em on this site just waiting to find a Leo/Rabbit.

"Oh! What a tangled web we weave,
When first we practice to deceive."
The last year of the Fire Rooster was 1957.
I've been looking into some of the foods, customs & such for the celebration.
Gotta admit, it sounds like quite a deal - goes on for a couple weeks, until the next full moon.
Both your comment & Phoenix's blog mention the closeness of the family.
Do draw a comparison to Western holidays, it seems a bit like Thanksgiving & Christmas - and with an optimistic look toward Spring.
