Alignment...

In my world, the moon and starts are not in alignment today.
I had a restless night seeking resolutions to seeming never endless issues.

Checking corporate email, a quartz countertop recently installed has a structural crack.
Quartz doesn't crack. Not in any installation I've done.

I'm bidding a $35,000 kitchen renovation and the new client is asking for a menu of options. That's a few hours (extra) work.

My associate has diarrhea this morning and won't be coming in... We've got 3 client meetings scheduled.

Twits on Twitter...

I see Reuters news service reported that Twitter has permanently suspended the account of 'My Pillow Guy' Mike Lindell for repeated violations to their company policy on election misinformation.
His personal account had nearly half a million followers.

It appears to be a self inflicted wound as QVC shopping channel quietly stopped selling his 'MyPillow' products in June of 2020.

OK, ok, on a more serious note....

...How about this CS site? Sure, I've been brown nosing the Cyberscrutinizer and her suits for some time, now. But I love the place, and pray nightly, that my puerile antics here only land me in temporary jail, if that.
But not really being a computer jock, in fact, I still always consult my brilliant and lovely rug rats on the topic. Yet, I know this will sound odd, but people generally like me, and I have all sorts of friends. A few are big time computer types, and one even worked for a dating site for a while.
Now this, with a sample size of one, is a bit evidenced anecdotally. But I listened with interest to her story. Which I'll be glad to share, after much more urgent business---Bravo's walk. Tootles, all.

Back, folks, and pleased to inform that with little Bravo, everything seemed to come out OK. So, my totally vuckable hottie good lady friend computer scientist, and her alleged experiences in the employ of an unnamed love search site. And may a piece of one of Allah's own heavenly asteroids soon be upon her husband. But I digress.
Says she began as a low paid intern, who's job it was to expunge the pics if certain unmentionable male body parts from the site. Can you imagine? Our mods would certainly understand. And perhaps a few FANS of this site would worship the job. Nuff said.
But soon she was promoted, actually to use her cyber skills more professionally. So she soon had the skinny on site population demographics, not to mention a few funny war stories. No one would be surprised to know that men far outnumbered the tarts, in vulgarity, exhibitionism and scamming. With exceptions, as in our now rarely seen CS friends from Oz, and the Great White blackface North. And that men in their late teens, or early 20's almost exclusively ran the scams, hailing from the nether regions of God's world, and using pictures of hotties taken from various places, excepting with knowledge/OK of the lady herself. She claimed that almost no one found decent grounded acquaintances/partners via their efforts on site, at which my experience is at odds. One datum really surprised me, and made me question the validity of her stories. (Of course, ladies like she could lie to a schlub like me all day long.) She said that on average, it took fewer than half a dozen on site chats (things with these crowds soon went to private mail), and in most of these cases, dates soon followed. And here's the kicker, for this innocent fellow, sex almost always followed after only two or three "dates".

Lots more, but what a world! I must be protected by the purity of my essence, and by the Goddess herself. And by hanging out on a safe site.

Some people will believe anything...

Trump hasn't acknowledged he lost the election and Joe Biden will be the next president. In the past 2 months I've blogged about him needing to relocate and his inability to seek residence at Mar-a-Lago. Contractually, he is limited to 21 days per year. It been reported by media he abused that by visits of 130 days this year.

I also mentioned he would likely take (rent/buy) some luxury home nearby Mar-a-Lago.

Entertainment Tonight aired a story this evening saying the Trump's were shopping real estate in Palm Beach because their suite at Mar-a-Lago was much too small and seeking something else in the area.

Correct me if you think I'm wrong. The size of the suite is irrelevant... He cannot stay at Mar-a-Lago.

They did interview the listing realtor who said they were looking at some nearby places including Lago-a-Lago. We are talking about $20 million and up.

Too small huh? If that's the real issue, no problem... I did some quick research on the area and found 2 beautiful possibilities in the range $41 million 10,500 square feet to $64 million 15,200 square feet on A1A facing the Intracoastal Waterway, only 5 blocks from Mar-a-Lago.

Better now?

Don't answer the phone...

There was a time I answered every call. My position was sales manager and I had to communicate with new people all the time. It was time consuming to listen to a message and return the call when my preference was to catch it when they were on the line.

In the last 5 years the number of bogus calls has increased tenfold. Extended warranty warnings in English and Spanish, I'm looking for a house in your neighborhood, my business is approved for a 6-figure low interest loan. An election year and I've received more than 100 calls and texts from people... right up until election day.

Unless I'm actually waiting for someone to return my call, I'm hesitant to answer any unknown incoming call. Most of the caller ID have names now and 'Scam Likely' is usually on the header, but some discount carriers don't use that system.

Most everyone I know rejects bogus calls.

When I receive a solicitation call, I block the number. What happens then is my phone doesn't ring but the call is automatically routed to my message box and I get notification there. The computer generated 'robo-calls' are recorded messages repeating the same BS over and over. Since they can spoof the number they are calling from my phone sees it as a new number and the call comes through.

Don't answer the phone... it's no one you want to talk to.

Big Tech---VERY big...

...Google, Facebook, MSN, and others, those you all will know, love and use. And their powerful monopoly business behaviors.
Personal data mining/marketing, control over advert access, robber baron marketing of their own products, bullying every little guy with a swinging D-ck, and lots more.
Back in 2016, the Justice Department talked the talk on these cartel behaviors, but a case was never filed. And EU regulators issued fines for such---chump change fines that did little.
So now 11 US States ARE filing anti -trust actions, with evidence to boot. Others will join in. And knowing well, VERY well, that fines are laughed at by these corporate giant entities, these A's G are including ATT-like break-ups upon the courts' tables.
In the capitalist system, "free" is never really free. Someone always has to pay.

Christmas 2020

I went to Home Depot yesterday and didn't see any Halloween or Thanksgiving decorations. That's because Christmas displays eclipsed the 2 holidays in front of it.

Material Shortages...

Business it tough enough, lets add material shortages/backorders to the list.
I used to sell cabinets from one manufacturer that had delivery 4 to 5 weeks.

Due to COVID-19 the factory was closed and their schedule went to 12 weeks.
Some of my orders were switched to another manufacturer with similar product at a 6 week schedule. I'll get around that problem.

Tile we used to get from a local distributor no longer has inventory. Now, it comes from a warehouse a few hundred miles away. Add 2-3 days to get things we used to pick up the same day as ordered.

One of my clients is in Florida 5 days a month and I coordinated all the work to be done while they are away. We started the bathroom renovation, but the tub and faucet aren't available for 3 weeks so we will halt the work, clean the area and continue when they leave.

Quartz slabs for a countertop were ordered 4 weeks in advance and the ship date fit into our schedule. Now, it's backordered another 3 weeks and the completion schedule must be revised.

At this point, we must notify clients of changes due to factors beyond our control and get orders in as quickly as possible.

My brother had an all-important video conference scheduled. A week before the event, his webcam stopped and nobody (local or online) had stock to ship a replacement. I pulled one from my system and sent it overnight.

It's a dog-eat-dog world and not like hoarding toilet paper, a word to the wise, when shopping, if you see something on the shelf that you'll need in the future, but you think you can get it later... don't. Get it now. It may not be in stock when the time comes that you actually need it.
