Presidential Immunity

This is a complicated subject and I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it.

US presidents definitely have a certain amount of legal immunity whilst carrying out the duties of their office and for good reason: if every Tom, d*ck and Harry were allowed to file civil suits against the president every time they disagreed with a statement, or decision, the president would not only be inhibited from free speech in the form of discussion and debate, but would soon be too bogged down with legal challenges to carry out their presidential duties.

Having said that, Article II, Section 4 provides: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

The very existence of the impeachment provision surely means that presidential immunity is not absolute.

However, there appears to be some contention about when a president is and is not liable in criminal, or civil settings depending upon the action, the time of the action, statute of limitations, etc. Presidential immunty is relevant with respect to the civil and criminal cases currently faced by Donald Trump.

A civil suit was brought against Trump in 2021 by two police officers and about a dozen members of congress seeking damages for injury sustained during the January 6th breach of the Capitol. An appellate court consisting of a three judge panel has just unanimously ruled that Trump can be held civilly liable.

The ruling asserts that "The sole issue before us is whether President Trump has demonstrated an entitlement to official-act immunity for his actions leading up to and on January 6 as alleged in the complaints."

With this statement the appellate judges have bypassed any issue of actual liability, but have stated their ruling is only about the extent of presidential immunity.

The ruling went on to say, "We answer no, at least at this stage of proceedings." This means that their decision can be appealed, but if upheld these particular complainants may continue with their civil suit against Trump.

The appellate judges argued in their ruling, "When a first term president opts to seek a second term, his campaign to win re-election is not an offical presidential act. The Office of the Presidency as an institution is agnostic about who will occupy it next. And campaigning to gain that office is not an official act of that office."

This ruling perhaps has wider implications with respect to Trump's other suits, namely his criminal indictments in Washinton DC where he stands accused of conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 presdential election. Trump's defense currently centers upon his presidential immunity, but if his actions are deemed a part of his campaign, that defense becomes moot.

Another 'who killed JFK' theory...

This time it's actor, director and activist Rob Reiner who says he's followed the JFK assassination for 60 years and believes he knows who did it. For the answer... you have to tune in to his podcast!
Got it Rob... the podcast knows all!

Those never-ending webpages...

The internet is filling up with repetitive never-ending webpages. The example is Pinterest. Someone posts a page and links 30 other pages who in turn are linked to another 30 pages. Over and over again, so one photo appears on the internet several hundred times.
The same thing with X (Formerly Twitter that will always be Twitter) when someone says something stupid, 400 people copy it and it gets regurgitated no less than 2,000 times.

Something simple like a (wannabe) fashion model re-posting the same 10 photos on their Facebook page. Wasn't one standing by that expensive sports car enough? You think you're scrolling to the bottom of their page only to find you haven't... there's more and more. Go ahead, scroll down... there's lots more. It's never-ending.

This blog isn't a rant... instead it's a statement of fact. Saturation is everywhere and where we are headed doesn't look pretty.

Programmers have created programs that will scan your hard drive and let you know if a photo appears more than once so you have the opportunity of deleting the duplicates. The internet needs to apply the same thought.

Scrolling to the bottom of someone's page will then be possible.

Wax Figures...

Good wax figures make history and bad wax figures even better history.
One of the latest figures to make the news is Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's figure at the Grévin Museum in Paris. Basically... it doesn't look like Dwayne.

The link had me laughing at how bad the wax statues were.
Celine Dion wasn't close... boobs are too big, wrong hair texture, different nose.

Qualifications to become Speaker of the House...

Currently, there is a vacancy for the position for Speaker of the House of Representatives. I think Kevin McCarthy was booted out for a bi-partisan effort to stall a government shutdown and that didn't go well with house republicans.
Lots of names came up, but what are the qualifications to become speaker of the house?

From the horse's mouth ONLY

I can't be the only one bored to tears over the stupid pointless lies being told about Trump, some of them rolled out again and again. So annoying when they are corrected on one blog and the OP simply starts another with the same blatant misinformation. frustrated

So here's a challenge. His own words ONLY. Tweets, videos, anything you like. A brief covering comment (for those who can't be arsed to follow links) and then the link or Tweet. Let the man speak for himself.

I'm kicking off with his views on wikileaks. Starts with a comment in 2019, but clips go back to that much-watched debate with Ms Clinton in 2016. Does he know nothing about it (2019) or does he love it? Let him tell you himself, from 2016.

This should be a nice quiet blog, everyone prefers to drone on with their own interpretations but this is ONLY what he says himself, that's the deal. I don't, by the way, care either way, so links that make him shine are also fine. I'm just sick of whiney regurgitated massaged cherry-picked gum-bumping and those are the ONLY comments I will probably delete when I'm next in.

Oh, and anything that accuses me of being a Biden-lover. Nuh-UH. The only person in American politics who is more dreary than Trump is Biden yawn (so if you want a Biden equivalent blog, start it yourself.)

We lose / we appreciate

Why Can't People Be Content with What They Have, and Why Must They Lose It to Appreciate What They Had?

Here's a question I've heard many times (and probably will hear again). But for those who may not engage in this discussion but could use an answer, here it is.

First of all, the situation can vary from case to case. Each can find the answer that applies to them.

The First Question: Why can't people be content with what they have?

There are situations where a person appreciates what they have when they have something specific, but they need more to be truly happy.

Similar situations exist where a person appreciates what they have, but they need something else to feel fulfilled or happy.

There are situations where a person appreciates what they have and desires nothing more than to keep what they have forever.

Some people do not appreciate what they have because:
A. They cannot realize within themselves that what they have is real; for them, everything seems like a dream that can end at any time.
B. They do not appreciate what they have because they have never had something so precious, and they do not know how to appreciate it.
C. Some people simply do not know how to appreciate what they have, even after they have lost it, because they do not value what they receive.

Sometimes, people want more, not because they are dissatisfied with what they have, but because they want to evolve. Having what they desired opens their minds to new possibilities, shows them that they can have what they want, and this, in turn, makes them want more. It's a vicious circle that includes the need for growth: 1. You want more, 2. You get more, 3. You have more... so, 1. You want more.

Now, let's move on to the second part.

Why Must They Lose It to Appreciate What They Had?
Often, we appreciate what we had even more intensely only after we lose it because the need to have it is stronger than when we already possess it. When you have something you need, your need is satisfied by the presence of that something. Having something you need diminishes the desire and need to have that thing, while the absence of something you need accentuates that need, inevitably leading to a stronger appreciation of it.

Skinwalkers are often confused at first.

Many sharing their bodies with another are understandably confused and concerned. They can feel the other presence in their mind, but how can they explain that to anyone without being labeled a nut? Then they wonder if they really are crazy and delusional.
Some of them actually do go crazy at the dilemma this puts them in. Strange murders and inexplicable suicides can result for those poor souls.
No human brain is exactly the same as anyone else;s. Individual variations exist as a natural process of heredity, environment and diet. Bob's brain is different from Nick's which is different from Sue's and Ann's, etc., ibid 7 or 8 billion times. It seems implanting a second consciousness is kind of an art form. Although it sometimes goes very smoothly, sometimes errors are made and the 2nd consciousness acquires more dominance than the body the brain controls can handle.
Hallmarks of a botched implantation require alertness and maybe even some training to spot. Although myths of such possessions go back thousands of years and have a dozen or more names in human history (possessed, skin walker, shape shifter, paranoid schizophrenia, etc) most of human society is not alert to the phenomena.
A popular target of such implantation are leaders and what are today called influencers. Radio announcers, TV and movie stars and religious leaders were frequent targets in the past.
Things observers should be alert for as evidence someone may be have experienced a botched implantation could be someone previously physically fit and well coordinated suddenly tripping on stairs or failing at simple routine physical tasks such as dropping a coffee cup, or missing the mouth while trying to take a drink putting shoes on the wrong foot, etc. This is because the one in charge or trying to be in charge of the possessed person is not the one the body normally resounds to. Another symptom is when talking or doing something, suddenly the person will just freeze, unable to respond to questions or voice anything, or even to move. This reflects an internal struggle in their brain to take back control. However, even if briefly successful after a moment of struggle, in human society today, very few would believe them, so they will insist everything is alright and nothing is going on, while bystanders may wonder if they just witnessed a minor stroke. Sometimes an implant gone wrong will in time cause actual brain damage and someone previously normal may suddenly start speaking incomprehensible word salad, or suddenly manifest strange conspiracy beliefs, etc. If they suddenly claim someone is in their head and it hurts, it may be too late to help them and they usually die of brain hemorrhage soon after.
Some skin walkers were / are people of no great importance or known significance, but the hitchhiker entity has picked them for a reason that may take years to become clear. It is possible the entities doing the possessions can see alternate history paths and forks in future timelines in which this or that person can with a little push play a major role.
It has been alleged that sometimes the 2nd consciousness shares information, suddenly the host knows a 2nd lir 3rd language without study, or announces and makes new inventions or ways of doing things no one else had thought of. They may claim to have had conversations no one else could hear with Angels or Demons. This may be an opportunity for an observer recognizing the symptoms to provide help and ask some questions of the other entity in their head.
The end goal of those doing the implanting of a 2nd consciousness in so many humans is not yet known, but it may not be a good one for humanity.

4 zodiac signs who genuinely enjoy being alone

Some people thrive in crowds, while others feel best with just their own company.
Did you know your zodiac sign might hint at which group you’re in?
Let’s look at four zodiac signs that genuinely enjoy being alone.
If you’re curious about whether your sign is on the list, keep reading!
1. Taurus
Taurus, represented by the bull, is known for its steadfastness and love for comfort.
While they certainly can be social butterflies when the mood strikes, Taureans truly appreciate the peace and tranquility that comes with alone time.
This Earth sign values stability and routine.
After a long day, they find solace in curling up with a good book, diving into a personal hobby, or just soaking in a bath.
Their affinity for the finer things in life often means they’ve curated their personal space to be the ultimate haven.
For a Taurus, solitude isn’t loneliness; it’s an opportunity to recharge and connect deeply with themselves.
2. Virgo
I’ve always been fascinated by the unique blend of practicality and introspection that defines this Earth sign.
Being a Virgo myself, I can tell you that while we do love socializing on ocassion, there’s something incredibly satisfying about spending time alone.
It’s in these solitary moments that Virgos find the space to reflect, organize our thoughts, and meticulously plan for the future.
There’s a common misconception that we’re always about work and tasks, but in reality, our alone time often revolves around self-improvement and self-reflection.
I’ve found that for Virgos, solitude provides the clarity and calm we crave, allowing us to be our best selves when we do step back into the world.
3. Leo
Now, this might raise a few eyebrows. Leo?
The vivacious, spotlight-loving fire sign that thrives in the limelight?
While Leos are often seen as the life of the party and undoubtedly enjoy basking in attention, there’s a side to them that many don’t get to see.
Beneath that exterior, many Leos truly appreciate their solitude.
Here’s the twist: Leos are fiercely self-aware.
They recognize the value of reflection and introspection. For all their charisma and energy in public, when the curtains close, they like moments of silence to dream and plan.
It’s in the quiet that they harness their creativity and vision.
While the world sees a confident lion, in their private moments, they’re often the dreamy cub, lost in a world of imagination and self-discovery.
In solitude, Leos find the balance and grounding they need to be a better version of themselves.
4. Scorpio
Scorpio is often seen as one of the most mysterious and intense signs in the zodiac.
From my own experiences with Scorpio friends, I’ve learned that this Water sign has depths that many may never truly understand.
Scorpios are known for their deep and intense nature. I’ve always noticed that, despite their magnetic pull in social settings, many Scorpios truly like their alone time.
It’s during these quiet moments that they dive deep into their thoughts and emotions.
For Scorpios, solitude is a chance to connect with themselves, reflect, and grow.
While they can be the life of the party, I’ve found that they often need these moments of quiet to recharge and rediscover their inner strength.
