Grand, firstly, sorry. I'll go look for your comment, I don't deliberately ignore any but if a blog of mine has dropped off the first screen I don't always go check it. That's no excuse, it is just a reason, and I feel really bad about this. Someone has taken the time and trouble to comment direct to me as OP, I should and do respond. I have noticed my comments are sometimes deleted but can't hand on heart claim that could be the reason. I'll look for your comment, though. My bad.



Secondly, no, never met him, and never will, everything I have heard about him, and that includes from his greatest fans, we're not going to hit it off. I did meet Clinton (Bill, not his wife) very briefly while he was still POTUS but it was work-related not social and another story anyway. Only mention it because I could have avoided the meeting but instead was like shake hands with the POTUS? Hell yeah! Whoever he was, you understand - wanted to meet the POTUS, not an urgent wish to meet Mr Bill Clinton. I will say he has palpable charisma in real life but perhaps every POTUS has to have.

Thirdly, my mind be set - well yes and no. I know I am sick of having him explained by others, whether the others think him the best thing since sliced bread, or the worst. It has become almost impossible to find clips of him talking without a voiceover explaining what he's saying, that REALLY grates my carrot. He MUST, statistically, have done some things right. When his enemies tell blatant lies, presumably convinced no-one will go check, that grates my carrot even more. When his admirers flat out contradict that he ever said what he patently obviously said, grate grate grate. So no, my mind isn't set. The blog is because I'm being tired of being told what to think. Yup the clip I chose makes him the equivalent of EVERY SINGLE MAN on CS with the quick backpedal it was also an example of let the man say what he has to say. Just for a change.

This is NOT a lead-up to asking you to explain him or explain away something he said. But if you can find a clip where he explains something that has been seriously misrepresented, that, THAT, I really truly genuinely want to see and I will do so with an open mind. Deal?

Yeah, there's a kind of hysteria which I don't understand except possibly Ken's blog on Apophis explaining why everyone's brains are melting ... such incredibly stupid accusations where the truth would surely have been enough but some muppet has to add their own 10% - or 100%, making it farcical and actually taking every scrap of credibility away. For why??

Let me be clear, when he hugs the flag and looks mawkish, when he mocks the disabled, when he looks me in the eye (okay, okay, straight into the camera) and says "I never said that" and when he is incredibly rude to people doing their job as politely as they can - if I met a man like him socially I'd be so totally unimpressed. Lies, even meangingless lies, get straight up my nose, and unnecessary rudeness, OMG. But this isn't about whether Suzie likes someone or not, I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of world leaders I think would be nice people to meet.

No, never mind politician, no public speaker. Anyone talking to a crowd has to say the same things over and over again. My head explodes.

But yes, that's the best way to get the flavour, not watch the cherry-picked sound bites being torn to pieces, and I still don't understand why the extremists on either side are so determined to make their point they are happy to falsify it. It is insane how Trump is picked on. Mainly because he opens mouth and inserts foot. But, at least he is articulate, mostly. And doesn't need a script. What you see is what you get. And they are after him because he doesnt give a darn and wont follow rules and what the elite want.

I've seen a couple of surprisingly balanced interviews on Fox news but there are one or two on there .. oh wow. But again that goes for some of the "other" side too. Dead horses flogged until they are just a heap of fragments.

I LIKE that this blog has stayed civil i.e. not yet attacked any individual including me because yup that urge to strangle can be overwhelming

People do have a set image of how a politician should behave - don't be controversial, don't step out of line, don't lash out at someone unless they are truly obnoxious and the majority WANT you to flatten them (and then ideally rather have your security people quietly remove them) above all don't ever let people have a reason to laugh at you because OMG people dearly love to mock and jeer and point fingers. It is pretty bland and sooner or later every public figure falls down in being vanilla and out come other less appealing flavours. I've before now called Trump the marmite man - marmite being marketed as a spread you either love or hate.

Thing is he's not going to dial it back, is he? Growing up cushioned by money and privilege lets you be what you want to be, whatever that is. Some do, and always will, admire that sheer confidence. Others are, and always will be, offended by his refusal to toe the line.

I don't have any problem with people liking, or hating, him, we're all entitled to our own opinions, however misguided and it isn't my country he wants to lead. I don't even really mind him being controversial on a world stage because it is easy enough to ignore, or follow, one person. But somehow it has become many many persons all screaming for attention and yup, that is indeed insane.
