The Truth about Liars.
Don't lie to me this Autumn day,
I'll detect it in your phoney eyes,
The way you can the truth betray,
Behind your fake disguise.
In a court of law, the truth will pay,
Said calmly without shame,
A nervous cheat, has too much to say,
To try and clear their name.
Liars will always convince themselves,
That what they speak is truth,
Their tongue into their darkness delves,
For trickery most uncouth.
Tall tales there are a million kinds,
But truth there is only one,
Falsehoods breed in liars minds,
Yet decent truth there's none.
If all lies told were now displayed,
On our foreheads one and all,
'Tis then we'd know who us betrayed,
From their shameful social withdrawal.
Tread carefully if ever one you meet,
Their tales, they'll coax you believe,
In a scammers heart there lurks deceipt,
Yet only themselves deceive.
Their skin is but a false veneer,
From their mouth fake rumours spew,
Poisoning every listening ear,
With gossip most untrue.
But on Mizzy's word you can rely,
For the truth I solemnly tell,
Verity is rewarded in the Heavens on high,
So ye liars can go to Hell !

About this poem:
"The liars punishment is not in
the least that he is not believed,
but that he cannot believe anyone else"

I love the GB Shaw quote. A well stated piece which I totally agree with.

You have captured my thinking in The Truth about Liars

Your visit is much appreciated !

A very well-written poem with an important social message!
I do not know if you are also referring to lying and dishonesty
through the medium of the internet but this has created a new monster. The eye contact, body language, etc. that is normally a factor in face-to-face interaction, and which tends to act as a "biological handbrake" in moderating human behaviour, is absent. As a result, the computer screen has given spiteful people a new means of expression without social concerns, of which outright lying and downright dishonesty are products.
Martina.......

You're a gentleman: I can't add further to all those splendid reviews, other than to say poetry riven from the soul is always the purest form of poetry, and this is clearly riven from the soul.
Kudos

Yes liars talk others to death nearly with their lies,
Too much emphasis on what they try to convince is true,
To spot a good liar tho they are not very coherent with sticking with the facts they will talk fast and gloss over what is asked say about something factual they don't know,
I watched abit on the telly about compulsive liars who had murderd and were interviewed ,this was before they got caught ,they were monitored on their body language and the way they were not specific when asked of facts.
Anyway you your poem is class well done mick,
