Romance Scams Part 13

Romance Scammers will use any disaster that happens around the world to gain empathy and worm their way in to your heart and emotions. Recently, a scammer are using the March 2011 Earthquake and tsunami in Japan as the story line to set up their scams. Please see example attached, it is the same story using a different disaster.

“Dear, (Red Flag)

I am very happy for your quickresponse to my message and photos of you. How are you today? I hope fine. I am not too good due to my suffering condition (Red Flag) here in Cambodia. I am single and never married (Red flag), 5ft 8 inches tall, 55kg weight, Asian hair and brown eyes. I am of Japanese origin but presently in Cambodia (Red Flag). I do not know anyone in Cambodia and I am residing in a church orphanage home (Red Flag) here in Cambodia as a result of the earthquake and tsunami disaster (Red Flag) that happened on the 11 March 2011 in north-east Japan. I lost my parents (Red Flag) during this deadly tsunami. My family was among the first target of tsunami. My late father was a successful businessman (Red Flag) and he has two hotels close to river where the tsunami carried everything away.

I am the only person in my family that was not at home because I was at the boarding school in Tokyo (Red Flag). Due to this all my family members including my elder sister were gone and our family houses gone (Red Flag). I was lucky that I escaped death because I was in boarding school when this deadly incident took place. I am the only person surviving and I managed to make my way to Cambodia (Red Flag) and this is my first time to visit this country and I don’t know anyone here. I am staying now and never hope to go back to north-east of Japan again, even sometimes I look through the web pages and I cry all day. Below is the link to view the full story.

(Red Flag)

I would like to know more about you. Please tell me about your love life, previous and present relationships and hobbies. I will tell you more about myself in my next mail. I attach my photo here. The photo on Connecting Singles is my elder sister's photograph (Red Flag) and she has not been found ever since the tsunami in Japan. I attach my own photos while in Japan.

I hope to hearing from you soonest (Red Flag).

Yours,”

Just do not be taken in with this scam as it is new scenario but the same old scam, “Rich abandoned poor little Girl with no one to turn to”. She will need your help to claim back her inheritance and will give you her everlasting love when she has recovered he property and money. In the mean time she will ask you for support and money to pay fees and lawyers, all with the promise of sharing it with you for the rest of your life. Only after you are drained of all your money will it become apparent that it was a scam and you will be left devastated and broke.

Do not be taken by this scam or any other disaster type scam. If you want to help in a disaster, use one of the recognized Disaster relief Organizations to send your donations through. I am waiting to see what story lines the scammers will use from “Hurricane Sandy” that devastated the east coast of the United States and the more resent disaster in the Philippine’s with Typhoon Bophay. Be on the watch for not only romance scams but for relief scams, asking for your donations and money, but going to fake relief organizations (Nigerian or Ghanaian criminal gangs /Scammers)
