Galway

I watched a 2010 produced movie last night that was screened on TV called 'Jack Taylor' staring Iain Glen.

I found that it portrayed Galway as a very sad and dissolute place, I know it's just a movie but it does absolutely nothing to promote the city in any kind of favourable view. It goes on to describe Galway as being the a** end of Europe, the place where people go to escape reality to live their lives as drunken hobos, rougues, con-artists, violence or a place to commit suicide.

I believe there were also several TV series made, hope it improved its view towards Galway.

My impressions of Galway on my fleeting visit was it was vivacious, inviting and an exciting place to be. The street entertainment is of such a high standard there that were they in Australia, they would have regular gigs in hotels.

@ daniela~ - wave ... Hi there Girl..... this blog wasn't geared to put anyone off visiting Galway, to the contrary, why a film would put it in such a bad light when it is quite obvious by all the positive responses that Galway is a grand place to live and visit....... sigh
