Thanks to CS

As I mentioned on my earlier blog Im in Trinidad. I messaged Annleerose to meet her. She called yesterday to ask till when I would be around. I mentioned that I wasnt sure as the welder we had organized to come work on the boat had failed to come around when promised and wasnt even sure he could come on Tuesday. Ann said give me a few minutes I will call you back. Around 10 minutes later she called and told me she had spoken with her son and they were coming around today with a welder. Thanks to her our boat is being fixed right now. Jim still doesn't believe that I actually was able to find a welder that works during the Easter break.
Thank you Annleerose. Thank you Chris (Ann's son) Thank you CS.

If you can take a picture of the completed weld. I'd like to critique this welder. BTW, which part of the underside had to be welded? I'm guessing the rudder.
thumbs up great news...
Ooby it was the skeg. I will take a photo for you tomorrow during the day.
It was Chat. We were so disappointed the welder we had contracted had let us down as we had hauled out the boat thinking he would come on Thursday. Im very thankful to Ann for helping. Thats her on the ladder and if you look you can see her son Chris in the background.
Hopefully we get to see them again once all the work is done.
It looks like an overhead welding job, good luck! Do you know what material the skeg is made of? Is the skeg welded to the hull? Is that where the break is? Sorry to be asking so many questions but this topic is right up my ally.
WOW! AWESOME!!!
If it is the rudder, better make double sure it's in ship shape. Crossing the Atlantic with a shaky rudder is not a good idea.
Ooby the skeg is welded to the hull it is made of steel. The hull is 5mm thick and Jim guesses the skeg is 3mm. We have added a large plate to the hull and now we have added plates to the skeg and made an extra 30 degree sopport plate to increase the pressure against the diameter of the hull.
Diamond its not the rudder. Our rudder is long so it needs the skeg for sopport. Hopefully this time the problem is solved.
Good to hear it all went well and two CS members got to meet.
I am totally impressed. It sounds like you guys are doing everything right.thumbs up
Swamie I am home. The boats my place while we travel. Now if you mean back to Spain we havent planned to go back this year. I do hope though to be safe.
Swamie I wouldnt fix it if I wanted to dry dock it. We crossed an ocean and we will keep sailing it till it sinks or our time is done sailing.
till it sinks or our time is done sailing.

Hopefully not a simultaneous occurrence.
I was just looking at it in the photo. It is out of the water give it a fresh coat of protection underneath. I been looking at some big Ocean boats earlier today so my taste would be new. 100 foot a must. I don't care for the open sea. But I do water Ski.
Dont worry Diamond Im going to be in Spain when you and Miclee climb the wall and come visit.
Swamie. 100 ft boats are lovely but to big for me to handle alone. I need a boat that I can sail while Jim sleeps. I love water skiing shame our outbaord hasnt enough power.
Wow! a meet up of 2 CS bloggers. applause
Wonderbar cheering cheering what a brilliant brave experience teddybear teddybear
