Special Delivery
When I was a kid, I used to deliver newspapers in my neighborhood. Indeed, despite the protests from my area manager, I built my 'business up to twice the size it was when I got it, and then split the route into two and sold it to two different kids. My area manager (an adult) said that the route couldn't be sold. No one ever did that. I told him OK, I'll keep the route and pay two kids to deliver it. Eventually, he gave in.
One of the perks of delivering the newspaper was that the Sunday supplements came on Friday. This was so you could divide them up and ready them for insertion into the Sunday paper. How is that a perk ? Well, I got to see the Sunday comics on Friday, a couple of days before everyone else !
My three favorite comic strips were; 'Doonesdbury', 'Calvin & Hobbs' and 'Bloom County' when I was a kid. What were yours ?
