one of the main reasons I will retire to the Philippines is that there is no winter so no chopping firewood and dominoes has yet to arrive in Cebu, San Miguel, on the other hand, is plentiful and ice cold beer
I used to get all my firewood for free, I installed a wood burning stove in my house, I used to go around collecting pallets or going down country lanes looking for fallen trees and cut them up with my chainsaw then load them up on my trailer and bring them home, unfortunately when my landlord found out they came round and ripped out the wood burning stove, it was like the bahamas in my house all year round, it was agreat idea, free wood and free heating, the landlors has said they will allow me to reinstall it but only if the work is done by a professional, I will do that if I ever have enough money to pay for it.
I don't use any heating in the Winter reason being because I don't catch colds nor flu's for doing so.
Really? what about feeling freezing cold, don't you hate that?
Thir you chimney must have a Special lagging for a wood burner. doh but save they are the bestpeace
I rug up the thing is going in and out the cold is a magnet for chest infections and the like..I do have an excellent immune system but doing what I do in the Winter has paid dividends.
sam I do not chop wood but I bet it gives you a good workout in the mornings. I have to use weightsgrin
heavier than dominoes laugh laugh
Yes I know RED, a flue tube, I had one fitted, guaranteed for 25 years.
True merc but when you have one yourself you just can't fault the benefits of having one, no heating bills and a lovely warm house.
Really, is it that hard to avoid the smoke? I would just cross the road before I get there.
Where I now live all is fine fingers crossed..But at my other residence it was like it was put in the wrong place and it would be smouldering across the road as well..I couldn't eve sit out my backyard it was that bad.
It's never good when it comes across your back yard, I've been fortunate that way.
Smells like tyres & dead bodies
I have a wood-burning stove and also chop wood. Mainly Oak and eucalyptus ( gum) , hard to get a better work out. ( Some of the comments) If you're smelling the smoke inside you're not doing it right, or you have a cheap leaking stove.
Here's my wood burner back from when it was installed, now it just sits out on the back garden going to waste.
