I've never had any desire to talk about religion or politics

And now it seems that so many in these forums, blogs, and the world in general want to shove their point of view in your face without tolerance or respect for others. It's precisely why I despise discussing those two subjects.

Am I an anachronism? Is it still possible to banter and have fun without politics and religion entering the discussion? dunno

I understand them being part and parcel of all discussion/forum/blog sites considering where the world is, but that's seemingly all anyone wants to discuss. And if party A doesn't agree with party B they're obviously an idiot or evil or both.

I miss the times in forums when socially inept people would wonder why they couldn't get a date... sigh

moping

laugh
Does that mean we don't suffer from social ineptitude if we know exactly why we can't get a date?

In which case, the lockdown has increased our social standing (at a two meter distance).

Every cloud and all that.
That's the problem cranky. There are too many socially inept individuals that will try to dazzle you with the b.s
Its still early , maybe you will change your mind devil
Cranky G ~ I understand what you mean 100%. I watch one News bulletin now per day while on lockdown. I am fed up of programmes on T.V. about the Covid 19, I am hearing the same conversation from different points of view and presenters. Ditto ~ Trump and Democrats. There sometimes is no adult debate at all. Religion is not overtaking the blogs. I think there are 3 regular contributors.

I do hate the incessant bad news syndrome here though. Bad News sells papers and keeps people watching T.V. and keeps people in control.
I deliberately watch light hearted uplifting programmes informative and also comedy programmes. We do need to get more lighthearted. thumbs up
Socially inept people rarely think they are. More fun needed socially inept or not.
Less hate, more acceptance of colour, creed, level of education and less intellectual snobbery and just let people write in their own way the way it used to be . wine handshake
@ Cranky.

I'm with you on this one. Time and a place for certain subjects .handshake
Hi Cranky, nice to see you blogging, for a change.

Maybe you could liven up this place a bit, hey?

I've tried...and I've tried but...sigh
Hello German, I also enjoy reading your comments.teddybear
Let's talk about LOVE baby. laugh banana banana
Now this is more like it! grin

@AI~~~ I tried to liven up the forums when I first got here, but that didn't work out very well. Maybe I'll try again. You going to help? cheers

And Amicable, What About Love?

How about we order a pizza , and not discuss it cool
banana

Did someone say pizza? You're not one of those people that like pineapple on your pizza, are you?
What's your stance on Sport?
There's nothing like Chicago pizza! Please hold the pineapple! laugh
Pineapple, never! scold
What's your stance on Sport?

Eh? Do I like them? Sure. Do I participate? As much as my 61 year old body tolerates. Mostly golf and exercise these days.

I rarely go to live events any more. I never was big on crowded stadiums, ticket prices, parking, hassles getting home, etc. Seems like the world is catching up to me nowadays. I'm rarely ever glued to a TV during a sporting event. I'll typically have it on in the background while multitasking.
I'd watch a good match if it were on, especially if I were with someone else who enjoyed it too.
But generally, I wouldn't stay indoors to watch a match if there were anything else to do, and there usually is laugh
I kept it cryptic on purpose, stance was the clue. I play a bit of golf, also keep up to date on the premiership, but I couldn't take part in a conversation about football.
I know nothing about Politics or Religion, spent half my life coding and that saps your entire thought process.
laugh @ Geezer
@ Molly~~~ There are some "sports" that are good indoors or outdoors. Except maybe on the beach. laugh
I know nothing about Politics or Religion

I like you already. cheers
I have never had NY pizza. Don't you like fold it? laugh
How can you claim Chicago is best if you never had NY? tongue

Yes, some fold the slices if they are large enough. laugh
Don't like sand getting into your bits?
I stand corrected! However, Chicago does have some pretty good thin and thick crust pies! (not that we call them pies) laugh
@Molly~~~ No, not much of a fan. Ever tried it? laugh

@KP~~~ Why do people call it a pizza pie?
Cranky, a good shower afterwards fixes everything wink
I'm not really sure cranky. Maybe because it's round and has a crust? We just call it pizza.
A pie is dessert.
So here's the thing. I grew up two blocks from the beach and always walked. The walk back home was very "irritating" if the sand got into the wrong places. Showering immediately after getting home fixed most things, but not all The beach I went to was essentially private (no parking on the streets, no businesses, no showers, etc). Even if there had been a shower there it's likely not something I'd have used. Not big on public pools either. laugh
well Cranky (you deserve that rather than Geezer now snooty), I think you should just give up sport so professor
@KP I don't think I've heard anyone here call it a pizza pie in many years. Maybe it's a thing of the past.

@Molly~~~ Can't we lay on a blanket in a meadow somewhere instead? teddybear
It's not the worst compromise I guess roll eyes

laugh
If you have a better idea let's hear it... grin

Yes, the format of all the other forums I've (we've) been on was different. I much prefer the separate categories actually being separate. DH was unique in the fact that there were people in certain areas that might have been on there for a decade and you never saw them because you posted someplace else.

I only went into Current Events and Politics when I wanted to make fun of people and their thick heads.
It would have been nice if you told us what you desire to talk about, so that we could cue the music and open a wikipedia tab or our own brains. laugh

Hi cranky. wave
Well you know variety and all of that, but yes got to admit these days more of those two than anything else.doh

We used to have fun and mickey taking but these days folk are very sensitive, for goodness sake doh its the internet were never going to meet, OR i would have given a Geordie left hook on the noes a few times boxing Some folk in a self up yours type of way say things they would never say in person. grin
My Geordie left hook is true then, not a fib laugh laugh boxing

Good to have fun ahhhh now down to glass of beer and all cheese pizza peace cheers
So, i believed you want to talk about about, loveheart beating
Marriage::professor:
Maybe some prefers to talk about religion, just for a reminder that we need a balance. Love comes from God after all. Politics, as we need to be involved as a part of society. Though of course we always have our own rights, beliefs for as long as we are happy of what we choose.
I don't have that desire to talk about religion as well, the fact that i don't read bible nor attend religious gatherings, as the place where am at prohibits the activities. I just thank God every morning i am able to open my eyes and still could breathe. I neither had that desire on politics the fact that, your country is different from mine, though i like reading blogs about politics, and i took things positively. If it don't suit my thalamus then just leave it.. Thanks a lot for this free site.. cheering
Hi usha! teddybear

How about we talk about anything except religion and politics. Or feel free to flirt with me if you like. laugh

Exred bouquet

Folks are not only sensitive, they are intolerant, ignorant and full of isms. Did I mention how much I dislike isms? I think I'll have a glass of bourbon when I get home from work. No beer for me. Gotta get rid of these extra few pounds that crept up from enforced idleness. I guess that means no pizza for a while, either. moping

And of course someone feels compelled to bring God into the discussion. sigh

And of course someone feels compelled to explain why people think the way they think and feel the way they feel about religion and politics, Thanks! roll eyes laugh

Gotta go to work. Later!
laugh laugh may the spirits be with you drinking thumbs up
