20 reasons why electric cars won't replace gas powered vehicles

The electric car revolution is in full swing, and these vehicles are now more mainstream than ever. However, there are still drawbacks to owning an electric car which is why the market is still developing. For gas-powered vehicles to be fully replaced, an electric car will need to function in almost all the same ways.

In addition, an electric car needs to have an affordable entry-level option. The marketplace for electric cars is quite expensive, and repairs can be quite costly as well.

20: Expensive Battery Replacements
19: Charging Stations
18: Their Heavy Weight
17: Inability To Repair
16: The Range Isn’t There
15: Slow Charging Times
14: High Price Tag
13: Batteries Will Wear Out
12: Fire Hazard
11: Subpar Performance
10: Lack of Availability
9: Lack of Service Centers
8: Lack of Charging Infrastructure
7: High Electric Bill
6: Limited Cargo Capacity
5: Electric Car Cost
4: Zero Emissions As A Lie
3: Quick Charging Can Damage Batteries
2: Resale Value Is Questionable
1: Parts Are Hard To Find

21. Availability and cost of materials for batteries, including mining.
"we" are at the forefront when it comes to el cars here in norwegica.
The main problem I see is how to get nice clean energy into them batts without producing it too far away in some most likely half/unclean sources.

And as I stated before, if nuclear was all over (maybe it will be one day) then el cars should be a good thing as the el is then pr.def clean as can be.

What is a fact is that one day we will be out of fuel, some 50 years from now. Gotta have something else by then. So it comes anyway. It's not a if, but when and how.

In the mean time I drive my 17y old gasoline car with great conscience knowing it's one of the cleanest cars on the road.
The alternative is already here, although I know absolutely nothing about them. Hydrogen powered vehicles.

IF ... Sodium-Silicon Battery Technology pans out - That'll change Everything -
The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) will be Dead as Caesar Muy Pronto ...
wow

We'll still need to generate Electricity, of course -
So the ICE/Gas Turbines run on Natural Gas wouldn't be Totally Obsolete.

I'm guessing a similar list was constructed explaining why cars would never replace horses back in the early 1900's. laugh
You just needed a man with a red flag to walk in front of your car.

It's a rolling lab, just pray it's not made in china rolling on the floor laughing
They are a joke. First of all..US power grid is border line now to fail. Until electricity is non polluting all that is done is over load power stations more. What about the materials, mines, factories, waste management and all that for electric cars? People dont pay for gas, etc, they pay for charging. And when electric costs soar or are high in some states, where is the gain.
Electric cars are like saying cause a black horse collects suns rays more, switching to a white horse will make it all better. You still have input and output.
There are NO scold Free rides
sigh
But electric cars with those Goodenough Batteries would be Epic COOL ... love

Folks have mentioned "Mining" related to Electric Car Tech.

FWIW -
The technology Requires Lithium & Afghanistan has been called "The Saudi Arabia Of Lithium".
Ol' Joe's announced U.S. Troops will be Leaving Afghanistan -
PRO Mercenaries will be Taking Over.

No More Mr. NICE Guy when SERIOUS Money's involved, eh? ... uncertain
