Vanishing Blogs

I notice some blogs, are prone to being deleted, here, without notice. What are your thoughts on this? Is the famous "Freedom of Speech", (of which Americans are so mightily proud); in real danger?

Please discuss in the broader context of wider American society. Is this a sign of the times, that we are living in? Is America, inevitably, veering closer to China, in this respect?

The right to Free Speech, is more important, than the content of the speech.

- Voltaire

(Voltaire, by the way, was estimated to have an IQ of 190, and I'm willing to BET that nobody here, does (myself included). Therefore, having said that, maybe (just maybe), we should listen to, and study Voltaire?)

This isn't a new topic. More than a year ago the CS moderator expressed they would like to see a different focus for blogs. My thoughts are ones that don't comply with their 'direction' are subject to deletion.
Some of my blogs about an ex-president and his legal woes have disappeared into the night.
Remember, we are only 'guests' here so the general definition of 'Freedom of Speech' doesn't apply.
Is blogging then, now a waste of time?
For me? No, it never was or will be. It's a diary for some, a place to mark important events, things of interest. Sometimes, I go back and read my old blogs to see if my opinions on a topic have changed. I'm unable to remember everything I've seen or read, so the review is satisfying to me.

thumbs up
@ chat

Good on you, mate, these are the type of comments, I'm looking for

thumbs up
The right to free speech should only be a given if it coincides with the right to be heard...jmo
@ witch

Or the right to what people want to hear, perhaps?

dunno
I don't read the type of blogs that have been pulled here, most are not up my ally but I'm not so tuned out that I can't or don't recognize those one way streets either.

Much is the same on our Tv news also, I'm trying not to pay attention to it too much... but come March I'll be all ears bunny
Thanks for the comments, so far, btw...
America, really needs, to examine, its own conscience, and soul, here. A vital principle is at stake...
Or did your forefathers die in vain?

dunno

confused
That is to say: Did your Founding Fathers, and War Heroes die in vain

dunno

AND, by the way, a lot of our "good old boys" died as well..

It's like the Bermuda Triangle. Blogs vanishing before you're eyes. laugh
I've heard the internet described as the new town square.. but it isn't public property, is it?

It's all private property and it's not the land, so what's the law of the land? Nothing. This industrial revolution comes with it's own ways which supercede the law of the land and the very idea of a government accountable to the public. Things that happen now just happen to us, like every industrial revolution that came before, it'll be decades until the human race understands what's happening to it with a governing class competent to govern. We go back to the days of Oliver Twist and Scrooge, everything is private and more than this it's beyond the comprehension of the average person. The state is now effectively privately owned and the new world understood by almost no one.
And although it be private the internet was successful because it treated like international waters.

And we're going to love this next bit. People who belong with an abacus trying to regulate cyberspace. A great new field of sheep trying to use an iPhone, a situation where anybody in authority with a shred of intelligence or integrity would resign knowing that they're a sheep trying to use an iPhone.
@cc what on earth did that mean? Do you ever think before you unleash your word torrent. I cannot in all honesty say I ever read anything you have written and thought 'oh that makes sense' - au contraire it all goes in the agentbob ignore box.
It must be said that this site is free to use. I publish poetry on here, for free, also. I have had commercial offers, to publish; but I'm not ready to do that (yet). And yes, I'm far and away better than chat GPT!!!

(I think this bloke means to say that we are breeding a generation of "high tech zombies). Soon there will be no jobs left for the "average Joe" A I will have taken many jobs, leaving many on Universal Basic Income (maybe); and with nothing to do. As usual, wealth remains concentrated in the hands of the top 1% (or less). (One reason, that I never had kids)
@chesney what absolute nonsense. I for example am vastly superior to you technologically scientifically and linguistically speaking yet you think you can condemn my generation to the rubbish heap on the basis of age and era - you deserve and receive my contempt, ignorant twit.
^^^laugh ...if true,
YOU WOULD NOT BE A REGULAR CSTONEHENGE
BLABBING BLOWHARD.
