... correct me if i'm wrong ...

but I would have thought when you love something you look after it ... hmmmm?

Your car ... your motorbike .. your sequined g-string ... whatever it may be ... you love it, so you look after it ...

Am i right?

Why is it then you don't look after yourself?

Your life?

Why do you continue to smoke ... abuse alcohol ... eat crap .. and treat your health like it doesn't matter?

hmmmm?

I look around and i see abuse & self-destruction everywhere ...

Wake up peoples, you can't go shopping & buy a new life once you've trashed the one you've got.

You only live once so why not enjoy it. Can't think of anything worse than spending half my life in a gym and eating rabbit food.

But each to their own as they say ..... drinking burger smoking
@ RDM59

Health and nutrition is NOTHING to do with eating rabbit food .. It's about eating a balanced diet. Junk food will clog your arteries .. give you diabetes ... to mention just a couple of things .. You also don't need to spend half your life in a gym ... keeping active is all that's required .. everything in moderation ... As for enjoying your life .. you won't enjoy it if you puff and pant just to reach your letterbox ... obesity is a world wide tragedy ... and trust me .. i can't think of anything WORSE than throwing your life away by ignorance and plain stupidity ...

@ african_single

Awesome stuff ... you're one of the lucky few young people that have seen the light early on ... well done ... A great number of people spend their entire life abusing their body & health .. only to wreak it completely ... beyond repair ... and pay the ultimate price ... an early death ...

YOU GO GIRL! Keep up your healthy lifestyle ... you certainly look healthy .. I love your gorgeous smile and the sparkle in your eyes ... gorgeous ...

I must admit you're totally right, it was hard to start a healthy way of life for me, but I did it... problem is that the gym is quite far away from my place...

So now I'm wondering to buy some equipment for my place, I was reviewing Cybex and Life Fitness, do you know something about brands? I'm looking something for cardio (perhaps a spinning) and something as complete as possible for do some work with muscles....

Can you give me some tips or some web links?

Thank you hun, and keep going

Henry
@ jjmagro

... well done ... First up, you don't need a gym (if u don't have room at home, or if the local gym is too far away) ... take up walking or running/jogging .. buy yourself some freehand weights .. dumbells ... if you have room for some equipment (cardio wise) I'd get a cross trainer .. it's like a spin bike and tread mill in one .. I've got one, and i love it ... A skipping rope is awesome for cardio .. I do a 100 reps on one as part of my work out .. it really gets the heart pumping .. The thing with working out is, you need to gradually build up your work out .. start off slow and increase your repetitions and intensity as your fitness levels improve .. do some google searches ... there's a wealth of information online .. and youtubes to watch that will teach you SO MUCH STUFF ... GOOD LUCK and again well done!! Your health is your ultimate riches .. without it you have nothing ...

Hey there lass wave
I believe everything in moderation is the way to be,i like to keepfit too but wouldnt do it more than 4 times a week,i gave up smoking and i only drink alcohol once a week..i havent had a sickie from work in nearly 15 years...i feel good..long may it last..i hope all is grand with you jode..bouquet
hi again jode
Actually there's one website I like very much that is shapefit.com, they have a lot of info, but actually I'm not into forums, or so, here I have a question for you perhaps you can help me with this:

I'm 184 cms tall (6'00 feets I guess), and 99 kgs, so, I have an excess of around 10 kgs...

My question is: when I get into cardio, I can walk in the treadmill for 1 hour without any problem at a good level (I start at 5.5 speed for the first 15 minutes and then continue and finish at 7.5 sometimes with some elevation), and of course, I swed like hell, and everything is fine, then, I do some work for different muscles... that's a normal routine 3 or 4 days a week...

The question is: I can't use the arc trainer, my heart reach pulses like 70%/80% (160 / 170 hb per sec) like nothing, just right in the first 2 minutes and then it keeps going and going, I just can't take that...

So, what is wrong? why I can do quite a "hard" cardio in the treadmill (doing fast walking even with elevation), but if I try to use the arc trainer I just die?, also it happens if I try to run... I just can't run... and come on, I have an over weight yes, but isn't thaaaat much, I have seen people fatter than me (really fatter) and with better resistance... what can I do to improve that? because I really would like at least to have a 10 minutes run in the treadmill crying

kisses

Henry
Jode,

More power to you girl!thumbs up Good health is priceless and those who would try to put any type of negativity on healthy habits is just plain unhappy and unsatisfied with their own lives cheers

I actually enjoy walking and I'm lucky enough to live near a beautiful valley where I can walk. I also do a lot of walking in my job, sometimes 5 plus hours a day. I don't smoke or drink mainly because I don't like the taste. Since my op last year I've started using honey as a sweetner in my tea (redbush) and hot milk. Must admit though I do love coffee and hot chocolate. Good post.
good evening Jodwave
after I quit the Internet I spent one hour in gym and really enjoyed, after I spent a nice, sunny and hot day with sister´s children,we moved a lot and swam, we ate vegi and fruits and when I came back home I have really felt great...cheering thanks for morning motivation! teddybear bouquet
Like they say, all those good habits don’t really make you live longer but they do make your life seem and feel longer laugh rolling on the floor laughing
