Big Babies , why are Americans such big babies ?
is there a relationship between the age we leave school and how we grow up it the real world ???over here when I was young , you could at 15 years old , get your drivers licence , leave school and get married at 16 ...
I left school at 11 years old and I worked on a fishing boat , and I did corespondence school work at night , the pay was poor and the hours were very long

Mary -- not only did he walk in the blizzard with a broken leg, he had to wade through 9 feet of snow up hill to school and then home!
My mom was strict, she made me and my sister work for a allowance and when we turned 13 she made us go out and get work to pay for our school clothes..My dad made good money and could easily afford our clothes, but my mom wanted to make me and my sister see the real way life is..??
Sometimes I almost resent her for being so hard on us, but I think it has made me a stronger woman for it.
You know that he had to climb up hill both directions?
and if I need a hankey ,to blow my nose , I dont run off and cry about it !
Mothers are funny. Mine told me "don;t plan on looks get you by, then you are going to be homeless and hungry." She sent me to babysit for my school clothes too. I thought she was heartless but learned that she was just preparing me for my life. What does not kill you, only makes you stronger!
Most Americans are not spoiled, most work hard and each has earned what they have. I hear that Americans are spoiled, self centered, and only interested in money. Sometimes the people making these statements have no clue what goes on in the US. So, I smile and wish them well. I have actually invited people to visit the US and see what it is like. Mostly they decline. Maybe they think I will ask them to do the dishes.
My mom was cool. The only person I have ever known that could make you feel so good and miserable all at the same time. She is still a handfull, she likes to see if she can get your goat. She lives with me, papa has been gone for a number of years, but momma....well she is still going strong. When I was going to school, it was like pulling chicken's teeth to get an extra dollar for anything. She did give me most things that I needed..but rarely what I wanted.
I don't see how your leaving school at 11 makes Americans wusses.
You say the pay was poor and the hours were long. And you left school at 11.
In North America, on the other hand, you say we are big babies, because we go to school much longer, work fewer hours and get paid much better.
I don't get this. Why are we babies coz we go to school and have a good life, and why are you an adult for leaving school at 11 and working hard and not making much money?
There is a step there in your reasoning that I am not seeing.
I think we are all ears!!!
I have spent the last half hour looking for my ruler.....will a yardstick do?
A lot of kids these days grow up with everything they need and want, and end up spoiled. This is a society centered on mass consumerism. Most kids don't even know where their food comes from, besides "the grocery store". Some values have become lost, and Darwinism seems to be failing.
And... Darwinism is something that can't fail. That's the beauty in it. If a specimen or speciwoman survives, then the relationship between the individucal (human or other life form) and its/ his / her surroundings are deeming him or her or it to survive. In other words, it is fit to survive, if and only if it survives.
