Hurricane Irene

I'm in Northeast Maryland. Right on the Chesapeake Bay. Even though it is now a Category One storm, we will get severe flooding and wind damage. I pray for all in the path of the storm. Will try to keep everyone posted as long as the power holds out. Peace!!!

P.S. True storm troopers already have their bottles!!!

Piccaboo, As long as you are not in the path of overflowing streams or in the flood plains you should be alright . The worst thing with the wind is the trees it knocks down . It also can take the power lines with it so don't go near them if down . Just get in a safe area and wait it out . If you are not shure you will be alright then go to wherever they are evacuating people . While you are there do what we do down here, have a huricane party .
Keep yourself safe.
Glad your safe..teddybear bouquet lips
Hope everyone stays safe and well while Irene passes through.. hug

Also, Montecito, I do not wish to alarm you, but do check what angle your trees may fall in, as there has already been one loss of a far far too young 11yr old.. sad flower

cool
@ Yash....The tree I am most concerned about will fall directly on my kitchen which has a flat roof. That being said, my kitched will have a tree in it.

Another tree will also fall onto the roof of the kitchen from a different angle.

There is a monster tree with a trunk about 30 inches across. I don't think that will fall in the direction of the house. If it does it will hit the apartment in the front of the house and not me.....hopefully.

I don't have flood insurance but my landlord undoubtedly has insurance on the property. However, this is Mother Nature a/k/a an act of God so I don't think he or I will get any insurance payments.

And both tree will fall on my new car....crying
Shift the car...And the house if its got wheels on it...comfort bouquet

For laughs, we turn on the news and watch the hype of Irene. I don't know who is funnier, the government of the news media

laugh

You will realize once this weak storm has passed, the people giving you the information are idiots.
just vanila , I have just finished working all night and the icecreams great for falling asleep !!

take care , you are welcome to send me mail if you want to talk wave

Plenty of intelligent people have been reporting on this for a couple days. But big money does not want you to hear them.

The science is/was there to know this storm was NOT the danger they are telling you it is.

Now I hear FIVE people have already died "from" the storm. One of the deaths they are counting is a man who had a heart attack putting plywood on his house BEFORE the storm.
Your government is having fun throwing your money away playing this game of "state of emergency". The recipients of the government's(your) money are laughing all the way to the bank. And the news media is loving the ratings! And the government is encouraging the news media to pump this up!

FEMA is a joke! Huge waste! I have participated in it, that is how I know.

I appreciate everyone worrying. Your heartfelt words resound in my heart. We are ok. The brunt is coming but i feel we will be fine. I will keep you updated. Thanx.
Monteicito, stay stong baby. You will be ok. just pray to God, he hears all things. Love you, take care.
The 11 year old boy died as a tree from the winds crashed into
his house. For some reason I don't find this funny. dunno
I usually post in the forms but lately there has been too much talk about things that cause arguments.

So I came to blogs thinking it would be fun. I found people to be kind, fun and understanding and I thought I'd hang around to see how you guys relate to each other..conversing

What I didn't expect was someone to say that a storm that has killed people, destroyed homes, cars and created fear is just a joke.

I am not a confrontational person and so I will not respond to him directly but I will say ....you will not have the last laugh......what goes around, comes around..

I don't wish any harm to him but I lived in Florida and I know how bad a hurricaine can get. I hope he doesn't ever experience the worry of the roof of his house blowing off.

He has not forced me to leave. He's just made me see that arrogant people live in the blogs as well as the forums...

G'nite all....bouquet
ok , nite , nite ....wave hug hug hug hug hug hug hug hug kiss
Keep safe Monte. We deal with tornados here and my daughter had a 80 ft. tree fall on her house. Hit the family room and all plaster walls were cracked , hardwood floors were raised up. You were right. An act of God.The city did pick up the tree though. 149 rings counted in the trunk --149 years old. They stayed in a hotel room for 6 months with the three kids.

Hoping all of you on the East coast are safe and sound.CNN is reporting no change of force on it's trip to the north. Thoughts and prayers to all. Hope Lady Liberty survives it with all of you. God bless, Holly

My dad would always make us watch these things on TV[What choice did we have with just 3 stations?] He would say you will be reading about this in school someday. They did say this one started in Africa, tropical heat, is so huge[the size of Europe and long lasting that it will be know as historical and be studied by all students and scholars in weather. Just unbelievable.wave
Good Night Piccaboo..Hope your OK..bouquet
Holly....you were right on with everything you said.

News a minute ago said the death toll has been raised to 9.

It has started raining hard here with slight wind.

Another hour and the wind will get worse but the brunt of storm won't hit until midnight EST.

It's only a category 1 but from what I've learned it's not the number of the category that makes it a death trap.

They are saying once it leaves NJ and NY it will be down to a tropical storm. But still, that doesn't mean it can't bring damage and flooding to those north of me.

I think New York will survive the wind because of the tall buildings but lower Manhattan which is on the Hudson River is going to get flooded. True it's only water, but with the recession people don't need 8 and 10 feet of water in their homes and businesses.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled program guys....hug
its all about you ......keep safe banana teddybear
