HOW DOES A NEW HANDBAG MAKE YOU FEEL ?

Ok this is only for the ladies........... I did not realise the impact buying a new handbag for myself could have on me. Well particularly this one, because ladies this one is hard to find, I have been in Prada stores looking for the putty coloured SAFFIANO tote bag in about 6 different countries in the past 6 months, all sold out every where. All the chic ladies have this bag in their wardrobes and on their arms ,so i have been told, the colour goes with everything, hermes makes a Birkin bag in the same colour, this is the poor womans Birkin bag, but about $5000 cheaper. At $2000 it is a steal. I had to make sure I was carrying my new Saffiano putty colour, the right way round so people could see the PRADA logo. No more did i walk the street with my shabby old ""if it falls in the sea it won't matter bag""....."" the if i get drunk and vomit on it and spill ketchup on it "" it won't matter bag. I Had my new Saffiano bag. BY PRADA>
Now no one has noticed it yet, and thats a bit of a shame , well no ones gone ohh aahh you have a saffiano bag By PRADA >>>>>> but I still feel an achievement, because I have it. I have the IT bag..just like sarah jessica parker has her manolos, Victoria Beckham has her Birkin bags........ just as Jackie Onasis had capri pants, and Mahatma Ghandi had Dhoti... Thats the man version of a sari..................It looks good and I feel sophisticated with it, I feel i have made it, I am part of THE crowd that have ownership of a Saffiano ........I am chic.
Now ladies, I am shallow sometimes, it is true, but did you ever get a buzz out of owning something special? Is there anything you do or strive to own for yourself that when you have it it makes you feel good. Is my bag good just because it is prized and not so easy to get? Will the charm of having the bag wear off when it becomes as down graded as a luis vuitton tote bag thats knocked off by the millions in china and everyone has one thus devalueing its chicness? sometimes, we need to prize ourselves. I never believe what is the feeling between carrying an LV or PRADA bags and a NineWest bags. but when i bought an LV bag, woooow, it feels you are an achieved person coz everybody is looking at you. I have handbags and it's very sophisticated and classy. but don't invest on bags coz it's just a status symbol.
Can I buy a man bag and join in with yourolling on the floor laughing

I thaught someone was giving away Fur Bergers here for a minute??dunno confused wow
Sakineh, yes thats my new bag.......isnt it lovely ?
I am shallow sometimes, it is true.

u compare Gandhi with a bag for chicks, and miss the point: Gandhi's dhoti was self-woven.
so first thing u should do: make a bag of ur own.

if u can rest within urself u have self-confidence but a good match with someone else gives a lot of good energy so u must not end up dead in a bath in Beverly Hills Hilton or in a Carnival Cruise Ship.
Oh hi sleeping bird,,,,,,,i agree with you love. I used to make my own handbags, and I still have a few I use on occasion , they are funky things made from gorgeous vintage materials I picked up on my travels . I have one i made from a wedding blanket, or part of one i got in Yemen , and I have one I made from a gold encrusted sari that is about 100 years old. My mother has bags she made from old pyjamas, They make me feel good also when I carry them. Last year I went to a flea market in Veneto and found three vintage crocodile handbags from the 50s all in perfect condition and hardly used. The same bags on todays market would cost 5 k each , i got them all for 200 euros. I keep them in a display case, they are works of art.
My handbag reflects different moods I am in at the time.
I still make most of my clothes, following my own designs, what I save there affords me the occasional designer bag that has the ability to make me feel good for a while, until i get tired of it and need a new one.
Have a great day sleeping bird, thanks for your input.
Hi Saskia,
I love beautiful shoes and bags too! And yours is awesome!

As shallow as it seems, but being in a marketing world, us markerters - we're all so shallow that first impression is the first thing one would either consider you as an equal or not. We are - simply put - 'judged' by the phone (must be the latest Blackberry or iPhone) and to carry the latest iPad or other tablet or minimum the latest laptop, the pen that you use to sign, the clothes, the accesories, the shoes that we wear, the hair, the poise and of course we must be a brilliant marketer. It may seem like a pitty but believe me that's just the way it is.

I would feel that carrying my Prada bag as a reward of my achievement that I've worked so hard to get.

I doubt there's a lot of comments about men buying Rolex or Ferrari peace
Thank you HOUSTON blushing innocent

Dear Saskia, it's an interesting topic laugh The way our taste for handbags evoluate with time... and what's inside! wink

I don't doubt in your great taste! thumbs up

I am fine, thank you, hope you are having a great start of the week! hug bouquet
Guadal. Nothing you say is worth answering but I often wonder where you are coming from, it seems to be a sad place lacking in humour. Its a pity you can't get the joke of where i am coming from.
My point is all about human weakness,
If you don't have any i am happy for you, I however have plenty, and don't mind sharing them for the benefit of all mankind.
Lighten up Guadal, try to smile a bit more and have some fun for a change.
Saskia
Marshmellow girl, i think you and i are on the same page here......its a reflection of achievement. All people have this sense in one way or another........everyone wishes for something a little higher or better than what they already have.
Like when "" i win the lotto i will get this or that "" or if i had some money i would buy myself this or that.
I think we are all like that in a way ,
I value your comments Marshmellow girl.
Saskia
I totally get you Saskia and thanks for not taking my view the wrong way hug bouquet
Ofcourse I have my own list of weaknesses... and I believe it's quite a long one too grin
Think my biggest one lies in the line of food... smitten
Not very sophisticated, but it does make me feel good laugh
So enjoy; we all have our different little flings with things.
