they were once loved by an entire nation, but lost the respect of the public by always coming back 1 more time....

Dame Nellie Melba was an opera singer many many years ago, and she retired about 7 or 8 times....kept making a come back.
Johnny Farnham was King of pop here in Australia for many years, to date he has retired 8 times, but keeps coming back for one last time....
How many times can a person keep coming back?....
