I miss you.

It's not so much the idea of being in a relationship.
I've kinda gotten over that.
It's not what's required in my life.
What I miss is having a friend.
Someone who knows me well.
Someone I can laugh with.
Cry with.
And just go for a walk with.
All I have left of that kind of friendship is a memory.
I'm alone in my life.
Visits now and again from busy aquaintances.
Or a phone call....text message.. "do you need anything?"
Yep, I need a friend.
I miss the hugs.
I miss having someone around who has the time for me.
I miss the friends who've watched me grow up.
I miss you.
I'm not the same person today as I was yesterday.
Well, my mind isn't the same...but my heart is.
Some days I wish I could go back in time.
Life was much livelier.
Everything was still so new.
So many discoveries yet to be made.
So now what?...15-20 years later, it's not so new anymore.
Seems everything's the same.
Now I just miss having a friend, someone who knew me when everything was still new
Someone to share those memories that were once lived together.
I miss those days.
I miss you.

Ah simmo, sadness serves no purpose for me. Only we can change the emotions that we feel, by changing our lifestyles as well. But yes, I agree that we are here every day, making new memories for later......which is why I'm glad I have finally stopped to view my surroundings and smell the roses, so to speak....and enjoy the friends I have.
