Time

What does the concept of time mean? It seems to me that it varies in accordance to what is relative to us at any given moment.

Today I found out that someone I know has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has been given the time frame of 4 to 6 months to live. Has she been given a life sentence of 4 to 6 months ..... hopefully so and I wonder at what she'll do with her time now knowing what she knows. She's made the choice to not pursue treatments which would extend her life, but frankly at the age of 76 she still seems so young and vibrant.

I think to myself, what would I do in that time frame and hopefully I'd spend the time in a valuable way. It makes me think of the time that I simply let pass me by now .... why is this time less valuable? Its something I need to ponder.

Hi Langley,
I'm sorry to hear about your friend...hug
In a case like this, I'm sure time flies so quickly for them. I have a cousin sister who was diagnosed with lung cancer and for the last 8 months, she moved from New Zealand to Oz so she could spend her quality time with her one and only daughter and her sisters. She planned out her own funeral as well as her daughter's 21st birthday which falls a month after she passed. We talked on skype many times. I think during this time, the only thing that goes through the person's mind is how much he or she can spend time with their loved ones. teddybear hug
Hi Langleygirl, so sorry to hear about your friend. sad flower

I don't know how someone can cope getting news like this. hug
Hi Langleygirl, I am sorry for your friend. I too have a friend who has gotten that message from her doctors, she has cancer in her lungs and in her head, she is only 53 year old, and was given this diagnose about a year ago... She has made it for one year, but now she is getting worse and she is in the hospital, she has no hope of getting better, so we just wait and pray. The time aspect depends on who you talk to and what is going on in that persons life I think. I hope you get to spend some time with your friend, I have done that with my friend, and it has helped me and it has helped her. teddybear hug

All I know for sure is,
The more you need it the less of it you seem to have. doh
i wont go crazy catching up on things that have long gone or still can't do. I'd carry on normally and settle what i can settle so i could leave with dignity.

Hi Langleygirl: Since we are not talking about the physical nature of time and the theory of relativity, but rather our own role in the time allotted to us. I would say that it is all about focus and attention. This tragic incident has prompted you to reexamine and priorities.

A wise (perhaps the wisest of them all) man once said: "A life lived unexamined, is not worth living"

Every human being at some point wishes to take back time! I believe it is called regret.
Ifreee I'm curious as to who said a "life unexamined is not worth living" .... can you share with me who that is.

As for taking time back ie. regret, perhaps that is something that we can all relate to at certain points, but I also think that each of us does the best with what we know at the time until we learn another way.
